Ubisoft’s Flashback is a remake of the 1993 classic of the same name, a videogame that by many is considered a landmark title for the adventure genre. There are many conventions established by the original title that are still leant upon by even the most modern designs, and for good reason. Interactive adventures have to walk a delicate line between story progression and player involvement, and Flashback managed to handle this in a way no other videogame of its era could claim to.
GOG is giving away Flashback as part of their Summer Sale. All you have to do to add Flashback to your collection is go to the GOG website or the game’s page.
Andrew M writes: "Almost three decades after the release of the original, Microids has announced that Flashback 2 will launch for console and PC in 2022."
I have zero faith in the execution after how bad that remake was.
Doesnt need a sequel.
An award-winning action-adventure game, developed by Paul Cuisset in 1992, Flashback holds a Guinness record and is one of the first games to use rotoscope technology for realistic animations. In it, you travel the universe in the year 2142 with amnesia stricken protagonist Conrad while he dives headlong into an insidious alien plot. This game will no doubt prove a time capsule of memories for some and nothing can ruin that. However, for those of you who have never played the original, Flashback Mobile offers a somewhat different experience.
This game was cutting edge on debut. I want to think I may have had this on 3DO, can’t remember. Maybe SegaCD.
