A petition for Valve to add subtitles to Steam has appeared, and is gaining momentum.

They've done it again! Valve Support once again proved they value their customers by replacing a Steam Deck.
Shaz from Pixel Swish: "With AMD to reveal their upcoming Z2 Extreme chip at this year’s CES, it’s looking like Valve aren’t going to be one to use the powerful APU in a Steam Deck successor."
I don't think we'll see a new Steam Deck for at least a while longer. The Z2 line looks amazing but is also very power-hungry. Valve is likely aiming for a more balanced approach—something that strikes a better balance between power consumption, performance, and, especially, price.
So, my best guess is that we'll see something closer to Q3/Q4 2026. And it will be a custom solution.
Valve said they're going to treat the Steam Deck like a console rather than a phone. We likely won't get a next gen Steam Deck until Holiday 2026-2027.
Like they will add it. There are so much stuff they should update but they dont.
Finally a petition worth signing. I LOVE video games and can't fathom something so simple isn't already in place to help people circumvent a handicap; same goes for color blindness. Always sad to see when the bottom line is more important than doing the right thing.
Sounds like a good cause. Signed. Hope steam adds the ability. Everyone should be able to experience games in some form, regardless of disability.
I wish that all developers would add in a colorblind option.
I've struggled with it in many games, BF series is terrible I can not tell between the Team colors, Orange for Friendly vs Red for Enemy. Makes it real tough, but I think it makes me play better.
I think this petition makes sense considering to some people it is required and not that it is required for me to buy a game I always turn on subtitles.
