GTA V: 5 Reasons Why It Doesn’t Need Cheat Codes

WC writes: Cheats have been present in a lot of other Rockstar games, such as Red Dead Redemption, but we think it is time for this trend to stop as we prepare to make the leap to yet another generation of consoles.

Here, we run through 5 reasons why we believe GTA V should not have cheat codes.

If there's going to have cheats at least they should be REAL cheat codes like in San Andreas where they made part of the gameplay, having gamers repeat the codes every time they needed... not that BS like in IV where you only had to type the code ONCE and the phone would save it forever.

SeanScythe4413d ago

5 reasons it does,
1. I want them.
2. It's fun to use them.
3. I don't care if you don't like them.
4. Why are you still reading.
5. Go back to 1 if you don't understand.

bahabeast4413d ago

cheat codes??? people really still use them? ever since the ps2 days i dnt use those anymore.

TheModernKamikaze4413d ago

That's what made San Andreas fun.

Roccetarius4413d ago

Cheat Codes are a dying thing in games. Now they make you pay for extras instead.

Kos-Mos4413d ago

If you need cheat codes to make a game fun, have a nice life. Challenges makes life worthy of living.

koh4412d ago

Who said they "need" them? Can't people just want them? If I like to play a game through without cheats and then mess around with them does that mean I'm going to struggle at living my life?

When used right, cheat codes are able to add things to a game without taking anything away, but apparently that makes me a bad person I guess.

Have you ever heard of fun? Its why normal people play video games....

kinda feels like it just makes the image have less contrast, removing shadows somewhat.
Even if it's "more realistic" I think the standard looks better. Not in every situation but the standard likely runs better so I'll side with that more than likely.

Milk...get your milk...and so much more. Really when you release the same games in three editions over 15 years it's amazing how much money, and the amount of sales you earn. It's amazing how no one can compete.

Mr_cheese45d ago

To be fair, no many companies could release the same game over and over. They've earned that whether we agree or not

DarXyde45d ago

I mean Resident Evil 4 has had longer legs and still hasn't done anything like this.

Profchaos45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

GTA v isn't the only game that's released three consoles generations running but nothing has sold those numbers including GTA San Andreas which is now 4 console generations deep.

anast45d ago

Looks like a 2040 release for GTA6

gold_drake45d ago

thats insane right?
absolutely insane

No surprising considering that it’s been on every major platform and store.

I decided to look up the longest and most sold games list. To my surprise Tetris has takes the top spot.

I mean, considering the amount of time between the two. It better be a massive upgrade. Especially with the amount of money Rockstar raked in from GTA Online.

Most of scenes are pre rendered

andy8552d ago

Literally none are. If you know anything about rockstar they don't do that. Confirmed by themselves that this is all in-game

MDTunkown52d ago

Is that why first gta5 trailer looked better than the final product? Or is that why same happened with rdr2 ?
Rockstar told 50% are cutscenes and rockstars always used better models during cutscenes than in game.
You legit seems to know rockstar very well.

andy8552d ago (Edited 52d ago )

It didn't though? And neither did RDR2. In fact it was actually the opposite. What's with the hate boner? If you don't like it just avoid the topic

InUrFoxHole51d ago

Why don't either of you provide proof. This is just a he said, she said argument at this point

generic-user-name52d ago

You're either lying or just don't know what pre rendered means. Pre rendered means that if you change the character's appearance (clothes, accessories etc) they wouldn't show up in the cutscenes because they were already made and aren't being rendered in real time. This is something that doesn't happen in Rockstar games.

"Is that why first gta5 trailer looked better than the final product? Or is that why same happened with rdr2 ?"

In fact some of the scenes in RDR2 looked better in the retail version than at launched.

anast52d ago

The OP is taking the shot-gun approach: say a bunch of random tripe and see if something sticks.

repsahj52d ago

Damn! GTAV graphics are still awesome! But, I am so excited to play GTA6!!!
