I assure you, Victoria II: Heart of Darkness adds an ocean’s worth of depth and even, dare I say, accessibility to one of my favorite Paradox games.
From the review:"After some patching and a couple of expansions, Victoria 2 is rounding into shape. It is still deep with a killer learning curve, but it is starting to feel like a fun game rather than a buggy spreadsheet."
Heart of Darkness is the second expansion for Victoria II by Paradox Interactive. To give a bit of background information on the base game, Victoria II is a grand-strategy game that allows you to play as any nation in the world for a hundred years starting in 1836 and ending in 1936; military expansion is arguably a minor point of the game as it focuses more on industrialism and the ideas of liberty and nationalism that spread across the world during the time. The main focus of this expansion is colonialism, and it sees a complete overhaul of the colonial system used in the game.
