Defiance Review | EGM

EGM: "Defiance sports plenty of interesting ideas and solid gameplay mechanics, but it’s held back by some fairly serious technical issues and a general lack of polish." (Defiance, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 5.5/10

I would think a game like this would need time to work itself out before a proper assessment could be made. Its very ambitious and that deserves to hold more weight than typical frame rate issues or polygon counts and light effects.

I havent played it yet but plan on giving it a few weeks to get things worked out. Would it be great if it was ready to go at launch yes but you must respect the nature of the beast.

You should definitely try it. I've been playing it for a couple of days and I think it's amazing so far. The team behind it seem very supportive and many of the launch issues are gone. Many reviewers only seem to scratch the surface and barely understand what it's about.

Yeah, it does not look like Gears of War or Uncharted but only a fool would have expected that from an MMO game. Still looks better than most MMO's out there, and far from bad.

It's really fun and definitely worth buying. There is a ton of content and the gameplay is really solid. This game is all about having fun. I am a solo guy myself, so I am not constantly playing with a group, but it is really easy to find people to co-op with and if you do have a group to play with all the better.

I love the game and I am glad I brought it on 360. Not every game needs to be Bioshock Infinite. This is a game intended for people that just want to sit down and play a game for fun.

I read the first few paragraphs but stopped once I realized everything the author had to complain about was attributed to lag rather than the actual game mechanics themselves. The servers have been running perfectly smoothly the past 3 days that I've been playing. They were laggy for a couple days after launch, and it seems like this person is writing their review after playing only in that timeframe.

I don't think it's worth reviewing an MMO so soon after launch. Not only is it getting patched all the time, but how can we possibly gauge long-term appeal yet?

Ime about 80 hours in and it is rough round the sides but its a very good game. The developers have been given no credit at all for making this happen, the world is massive full of things to do.I come to like this game more and more each day and everyone ive met is having a good time to.Gears of war it aint but its a big world the gameplay is tight you can move from pvp to co op to single player without no effort.I would give this game a 8 and i no it will get better with time.
