I will say that just based on the JP demo I played, it gave me a lot of meat.

The 2-3 missions on the demo's where beatable and I could not make all the kanji out, but the world of "Ragnarok Odyssey" seems really solid.

I gave the demo a 10/10. lol

knifefight4205d ago

Same here.
Shame to see that this is Jim Sterling, yet his haters won't give him the props he deserves. He says some crap to stir the pot once in a while, but he backs up his opinions, at least. So he goes and gives a game a great review like this, but it won't be anything the haters will remember.

I hope XSeed's decision to publish Ragnarok Odyssey in NA will give the company a good reward.

Bimkoblerutso4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )

He's just prone to petty nitpicking, is all. I don't necessarily disagree with the points he brings up about the games he reviews, but he tends to treat every tiny quibble or annoyance as a game-breaking catastrophe, and consequently his scores end up looking like traffic-bait.

VERY excited about Ragnarok, though. This is exactly the kind of game the Vita needed right now.

smashcrashbash4205d ago

What are you his defense shield or something. He acts like an @$$hole to get attention most of the time and somewhere in all the crap he says if you feel like wading through it he makes a few good points. So what? Does that make him reviewer of the year or something? He doesn't deserves any 'props' as you put it and I don't think he asked you to defend him. Who really cares?

TheDivine4205d ago

Jim gives shit games great scores and the great games shit scores. Its how he gets hits and stays talked about. Without that nobody would care about his ass. Worst reviewer ever.

Then again he gave a ps game a good score so we love him... Until the next time when he gives the next ps game a 3.5 then we'll all hate him again. That about right N4G?

knifefight4205d ago

I don't think there's a single reviewer that I "hate" or "love." We're all humans with different opinions and different ways of expressing them. I can deal with that ^_^

"Ragnarok Odyssey is such a success because it gets the PlayStation Vita. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it's damn near perfect as an example of exactly how Vita games should be. This, right here, is a masterclass in handheld software design."

Well said Jim.

@ smashcrashbash

I have never seen a game review in great detail such as this one in a very long while.

LMAO At least he is not a sell out like the annoying, Greg Miller?

knifefight4205d ago

See that's what I'm talking about. This is a great review but then there's people waiting to donkey punch me in the crotch for giving the writer behind it a rare compliment, ironically fulfilling what I said earlier >_>

It's one of the best-written reviews of a great game. Relax, smash :P No need to crucify me over something as trivial as an opinion expressed on the internet.

DivineAssault 4205d ago

damn a 9 from them on a vita game?? good thing i got the CE sitting here.. Ill play it after i finish liberation

TooTall194205d ago

How is liberation? I'm getting Smart As and NFS. Target has buy 2 get one free, but I would have to get Liberation instead of Ragnarok.

Blastoise4205d ago

This is the game that makes me want to get a Vita the most :)

GodHandDee4205d ago

Loving the game so far. Lot of fun

Vita Means Life - A Retrospective (2011-2019)

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "With the sad but expected news that Sony is finally discontinuing production of PlayStation Vita hardware worldwide (combined with the earlier news that cartridge production was stopping in the west), it marks what will likely be the final chapter in the extraordinary journey for this little handheld that could. Despite its own creator rapidly withdrawing development support, third-parties cancelling projects left and right, and more internet negativity than I've ever seen for a console, it just kept trucking on - delivering a brilliant gaming experience for anyone willing to give it a shot.

So in light of this news I wanted to deliver a brief retrospective to what has become my favourite gaming machine ever, looking back at all the things it has done so well throughout its life, alongside a short look at what its final year might hold from here. While it's sad to see the Vita finally reaching the end of its life, there have been so many brilliant experiences along the way that I want to celebrate these here - and I know I've (personally) got many more years of enjoyment to come thanks to my backlog too!"

Ten brilliant Vita games no one told you about

Digitally Downloaded writes: "This week we're going to have a look at that console that everyone claims lacks games. That's right, the PlayStation Vita. The sad reality for those naysayers is that it doesn't lack games at all. In fact, the Vita has some truly entertaining games that were release to little or no fanfare thanks to the console's utter lack of visibility in the market.

So, if you haven't got a Vita yet, consider the ten games we've listed below. You might not even realise these are available on the console, but if you pick one up and grab these games to go with it, you'll quickly realise just how good the Vita can really be."

Cam9774000d ago

Get this:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

It's a new indie game that is available on PS Mobile. Sorry, this is all I could find of the game on Youtube.

Furthermore, I'd advise you check out "LONE SURVIVOR" when it's out which is yet another survival horror Indie game.
I can't wait to see what's in store for the Vita at E3 2013!

Smokingunz4000d ago

I don't agree with this list! This author has bad taste. The only good game on this list is Silent Hill Book Of Memories! Now that is an awesome game.a game worth buying indeed.
