Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 'Zombies' terrorize an open world, 8-player 'Grief' mode introduced

Joystiq - Treyarch's bonus zombie mode was meant as a special, throwaway time destroyer when it was injected into Call of Duty: World at War. "It's born out of the passion of the team," Treyarch boss Mark Lamia says at a recent preview event showcasing more multiplayer content and teasing the co-operative zombie killing mode.

Though its popularity has grown with each Call of Duty release tasked to Treyarch – the team behind this fall's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – the developer has never attempted to attach a fiction to the mode. As Lamia tells us, the fervent zombie mode fan community has taken on that job for itself. (Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

I'm not a fan of Call of Duty. But this sounds like fun and I might get it.

So sick of cod but the zombies will rock. Im sure Ill hop on MP for some quick 5 minutes rounds here and there but this mode is what Im most interested in. I wish they would sell each mode sperately to be honest

I remember the exploit where you could activate the death cards from the campaign coop in zombies. I was pissed when they patched it. It made zombies so much more fun.

So much value in one disc. If people continue hating on COD after this, then it better just be on the IW side of it. Thanks for giving a shit Treyarch!!

It's actually kinda sad that a dev who didn't create the series makes better games then Infinity Ward.

The key IW people left Activision a while back or they where fired by the company. The new IW is like the new Rare, it's only that company in name alone.

Man I got to give it up to the devs. This sounds very impressive. This is coming from a guy who has refused to buy a new call of duty game since MW2. I love Treyarch now for this. I just want to see the 'open' world in action. I wish they would release zombies by itself though :/

A Treyarch developed zombie game sounds amazing. Break up the monotony of just cod every year.

"Lamia says there are "new mechanics exclusive to this mode" that players can employ to grief the other team with. When pressed for details, Lamia wouldn't budge on what those elements are."

I'm guessing in "Grief" you can turn into a zombie when you die, that's why some zombie's have blue eye'?
