So far the numbers of all 3 look good. Although i did hear Sony broke 5million a while go but i may be wrong. The next 2 months are going to make a huge difference in sales. I personally can't wait to see what Xmas brings. I am very surprised the 360 hasn't broke 12million yet. Seems like they have been around 11 for a while now. Then again this is VGchartz. May not be right but if gives a good idea of where they stand.

these are VGCHARTS numbers.

look at their EU sales charts ...especially the ones for SPAIN ,FRANCE and GERMANY.

They have massively downgraded ps3 sales and upgraded x360 sales.
x360 couldnt even sell 120k in SPAIN. It sold just 400 k in FRANCE and around 120k in GERMANY.

ps3 is around 6m worldwide vs 11m for x360

I posted this news yesterday twice. Playstation 3 fanboys kept reporting it as fake, spam or dupicate story and just getting it knocked off. PS3 fanboys are so zealous and hate news reported that they don't like.

This freakin site is more and more of a joke everyday. the PS2 SHOULD have been included... but the fact that it was not does not automatically make this analysis "irrelevant". Especially if this analysis seems to be considering JUST net-gen consoles.

I, to be honest, agree with VG's decision because PS2 is no longer a significant factor in determining Sony's financial future (in the long run that is). That is, while the PS2 sales continue to gradually stagnate/decrease, the PS3 is expected to rise. Hence, it sort of make sense that this analysis focus solely on NET-GEN console. In essence, their concentrating on the future.

Okay, but how long do you expect the PS2 to remain on the market? To be honest, it sales have already peaked, and are now just slowly (but surely) declining until Sony announces that they are dropping support for the system and focusing solely on the PS3. Just think, how much revenue is Sony amassing from the PS2 alone NOW? Can it survive just based on the PS2's continued success? The answer is no, which is why this analysis- by focusing just on the PS3 (and, hence, Sony's future)- IS relevant.

I would agree with you except in my personal experience when I buy something, it usually means I am at the same time not buying something else that compares. I'm pretty sure that goes for almost all consumers (at least the ones that don't have too much money in their hands).All are game consoles, and when someone buys a PS2 they are not buying another console so it can easily be considered direct competition. That is the monster that Sony has made, and it should be given it's props. I just can't take this seriously when it leaves out such a huge factor, so in my opinion, it is irrelevant.

actually, sony had announced during the e3 conference that they fell just short of their 6 million target and reached 5.5 million ps3's sold at the end of March 2007. go check the e3 announcements from each company

Sony stated at E3 they had SHIPPED around 5.5 million ps3 by march 31, and they stated at TGS they had SOLD almost 6 million ps3s...

i'm interested to see what the numbers will look like thru christmas for the 360 and ps3...with the ps3 introducing a $400 sku, and the 360 getting 2 games bundled with all their sku's starting next week, it should move alot of consoles for both. from the beginning of this year up to about july, sales were completely stagnant for both consoles.

if i remember correctly, the 360 had sold 10 million at the beginning of the year, and the ps3 was up to 5.5 million during their E3 show. now we can see how these companies do with both guns blazing going into the holidays

they are geting beaten by the 360 but by only a small portion.

the ps3 is selling a lil bit less than the 360 in the same time frame.

maybe it has gotten outsold recently but the ps3 is still in the game.

oh this is a juicy little bit of information for y'all. So according to vg charts. http://vgchartz.com/weekly.... For the week ending Oct 15th , in 2006, the 360 had a worldwide total of 4,880,000. So according to the same website, the ps3 has sold around 200,000 more consoles than the 360 did (in a similar time frime)... and the ps3 has actual competition and no games.. you fanboys are funny.

Is starting to hold its own here, 360 outsold the ps3, but with Halo 3 in its corner, these are really close numbers. Could be some changes in the air, is Sony can hold these numbers.
