Do Not Send Sony Your Buggy Consoles, Literally

Junkie Monkeys: It is inevitable that some consoles will break and have issues and need to be shipped out for repair. There are various issues that require the need for a gamer to ship back their console to a manufacturer, but Sony has listed one issue they will not resolve and it is actually quite humorous.

Off topic:Is there anyway i can redeem my PS+ voucher that came with my PS4 with out a need of a CC??

darthv723812d ago

I dont know of one. i believe the CC is needed to validate the profile for ps+ but they cant charge anything to it without authorization.

you can try the official playstation site and see if there are answers on the faq or the forum.

UltimateMaster3812d ago (Edited 3812d ago )

Yeah, I remembered when that happened with the PS3. XD
Some customer send his PS3 for repairs because it stopped working and it was infested with termites.
They returned it back saying, don't send it back.
It's the only PS3 in history to have gone to Sony and returned still broken.
I guess there was some truth to that story since there has been some update on qualifying packages. XD lol

Hozi3812d ago

well then they should not void warranty if we take console apart to clean it ourselves...cuz in some places it's inevitable to prevent the critters from crawling in there.

TwinDad3811d ago

The need of a CC is not for authorization purposes. When you enter the Code it signs you up for a subscription, which needs a CC on file to bill when the subscription is up for renewal. If you use the code remember to disable or remove the auto renewal on the subscription.

UltimateMaster3811d ago

@Hozi

They could infest the factory, that wouldn't be good.
They multiply really fast and are hard to get rid of.

jayswolo3812d ago

No, credit cards are required for vouchers, but not for PS Plus cards. Yo can remove your info immediately afterwards.

rdgneoz33812d ago

And don't forget to turn off the renewing subscription.

s8anicslayer3812d ago

That is the politically correct way of saying "No Roaches"....lmao, I'm laughing as I'm typing.

AndrewLB3812d ago

I'm surprised nobody has a problem with the fact that they're essentially calling Playstation owners filthy dirtbags. I couldn't imagine the fury if it were M$ who said it.

Ilovetheps53812d ago

If you have a used pre-paid card, you can use that. I used one multiple months ago and it still worked the other night when I claimed my PS+ voucher. And the pre-paid card has $0 on it.

SonyStyled3812d ago

you can also turn off auto renewal in account management to prevent your card from being charged upon ps plus expiration

XB1_PS43812d ago

That just about made me puke.

M-M3812d ago

Thanks, now I'm never going to open my consoles to see what's inside lol.

KwietStorm_BLM3812d ago

I've never been asked for my card when redeeming a voucher. Am I misunderstanding what you're asking?

ovnipc3812d ago

Lol you can tell this guy has no experience in consoles repairs. Actually it's very common for a console to have bugs. In my experience repairing consoles I seen plenty with bugs. PS3 and xbox 360.

ehandlr3811d ago

Exactly. working for a cable company before... We got so many digital boxes full of roaches and other creepy crawlies.

itBourne3812d ago (Edited 3812d ago )

I am almost positive I redeemed mine without any card info. (As I used a new account, cuz my Euro one will not do.) There is a possibility my card is on there tho for TLOU dlc, I will check when I get home for ya. Got 3 accounts unfortunately.. so Idk what is on what.

Ps4Console3812d ago

That is very old but still amusing .

sephiroth4203811d ago

nah i dont think so dude, i used my debit card account, you can always change the settings so it doesnt redeem itself, but if you dont have any cc or dc details then i dont think think you can do it.

lilbrat233811d ago

They have always had that reasoning, I remember for the PS3 people got their systems back due to having bugs supposedly.

Minimox163811d ago

@Majin-vegeta
I think no, but what I use for that is that I create a account in: entropay.com (they have a virtual credit card Visa) you can create one with no money in it and use that info to use your PS+ voucher :) hope that help

TBONEJF3811d ago

And another reason which is why I'm glad i never be the first one to rush to buy a new game console i give it a year or at least till next summer.

Persistantthug3811d ago

I had a squirrel in my attic a couple Winters ago......does that count?

PoSTedUP3812d ago

haha. i bet a lot of ps3's got sent in with all kinds of crap sucked into them. also a lot of insects do like/need warmth, i bet its the go-to place for them to lay their eggs etc. lol.

BISHOP-BRASIL3812d ago

Depends on the insect. But by far the most commons are non-tunneling ants. I guess by now everyone had haerd of crazy ants, but basically all those ants you frequently see inside house are non-tunneling too, as they don't dig nests they readily adapt to human environment filled with all kinds of small spaces they can live in and protect.

The thing with electronic (or electric) equipaments is that they usually only have vents or slits as entry points, this makes for a perfect nest as it's easy to defend. The whole "ants feel electromagnet field", "follow the hum" or "use the heat" is all myth, because they'll infest unplugged electronic you may had forgot on a closet just as likely... No, seriously, go check that old VCR in your closet right now.

PoSTedUP3812d ago (Edited 3812d ago )

yeah deff depends. but i know what u mean. i had a whole friggin eco system in my room at one point. baby spiders feeding on the nest of ants (that i didnt know of unill i ripped my carpet up) later growing up to be this crazy fast arachnid.. º_º.

had to be about a second carpet (of ants) under my carpet. the species of insect that goes to warmth is the ones that dont produce their own heat and get it from the environment (forgot the name). but it still depends on its for of habitat.

+bub for the info bro.

BISHOP-BRASIL3812d ago

Actually all insects are ectothermic (they are too small to provide insulation and don't produce enough heat to stably compensate what they loose to ambient), but they have some really nice tricks to actually not need the warmth of an electronic or carpet (or anything on the ambient really)...

The first one you nailed! They loosing heat to the ambient will only make the ambient hotter, if you can contain that heat in a small space you're good to go. A nice confy restriced space where air doesn't move too much is under the carpet! Ants, termites and other social insects are specialized in this as they live in big numbers on cramped space, this keep the place much more warm than one expect. They may be ectothermic as individuals, but a colony could actually be considered endothermic (to the point they need ventilation and exhausts to not fry their larvae). So the key is not just being under the carpet, but them forming a second carpet themselves.

Of course not all insets are social (or we could ask how the few first ants to get under your carpet survived) or lives in a burrow... Which is the second great trick: insets are not only ectothermics, they are poikilothermics! This ugly word means they don't need a static temperature to work (differing from homeothermics, that actually can be either endothermic or ectothermics adaptaded to static temperature environments), if it's warm and confy, fine, if it gets colder they'll keep going!

Of course they can't simply avoid physics, just like us: too hot and organic compounds will destabilize and no longer be functional, too cold and chemical reactions stop and, with it, the methabolism... Either way we are dead meat. So they too have a limit both up and down, but they have plenty of countermeasures to survive cold: multiple methabolic routes for different temperatures, antifreezing proteins, termogenic capabilities or even going out right dormant when everything else fails.

So their dependence on outside warmth is impressively low for a terrestrial ectothermic organism. None the less, indeed, they still depend on warmth, they just have an awkwardly big number of ways of generating their own heated ambient.

+Bub back at you for the nice topic.

Neonridr3811d ago

the more you know... ;)

one2thr3812d ago

But imagine the look on a persons face, when they open up a console to then have hundreds of roaches/ants scurrying all over their work station/place lol

meatnormous3812d ago

I remember picking up receivers for Time Warner and they were infested with roaches. Roaches love electronics for the heat they produce. We always had to put an infested receiver in a plastic bag before turning it in. The warehouse would bomb the receiver with raid, then send a bill to that customer. Peoples houses are nasty! They act embarrassed by their mess and should be. Clean your damn house.

Swiggins3812d ago

Roaches, Mice and all other forms of vermin will get into your house regardless of how clean you keep it.

My grandmother kept her house spotless (you could eat off the floors), and she found a rat colony 40 strong hiding in her walls one winter.

cell9893812d ago

its normal to get an outbreak once ever so often, especially if youre always clean and know you never have rats. Usually you dont find out till they reproduced and its too late, nevertheless immediate action can get reed of them completely. Its another thing to have bug infested consoles, that means you have a whole bunch of roaches in your house if they end up as far as electronics, it should never go that far.

meatnormous3811d ago

Mice and rats are an exception. They will always try to move inside during winter.

Such a good game to me. Crazy how different peoples opinions can get.

Crows903h ago(Edited 3h ago)

For me it wasn't that surprising. There was some bad press before. There's also the matter and element of a person's disposition when trying out a certain game. Sometimes you're just not really into the type of game that you're playing so you put it down because you don't like it. Not necessarily because it's a bad game but because you're just not up for something like this. Reviewers have a tough because no matter what they feel like playing they've got to play what's releasing.

I have many times gone back to games that I put down only to thoroughly enjoy them the second time around because either there wasn't another exciting game coming out around the same time or I just had no other games to play and haven't played that type of game in a while. I'm not the type of person that can just play a souls game through all this iterations one after the other without getting burnt out on the formula.

In my opinion this game was great from the start. Some bugs here and there but nothing worse than the most AAA releases during the same time after and before. All I did was wait one week and I had a phenomenal time with the game. No other zombie survival game comes close to how I thoroughly enjoyed this one

-Foxtrot1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Yeah I thought it was pretty decent, it had its flaws but for their first big console single player open world game it's a solid 8/10.

I have never seen an AAA "zombie" game feature as many enemies as the horde sections did, you really had to think about your surroundings and plan carefully.

I feel journalists had an issue with this game from the moment it was announced, they really didn't like the Biker characters and the overall Biker gang theme. If they were anything else I feel it would have had a better chance or at least they'd overlook some of the flaws like they do for certain other open world games. They don't mind waiting weeks or months for a patch knowing its coming but a game that has it Day 1 it's suddenly a big no no? Yeah this was one of those moments that showed you how they cherry pick who to suddenly decide to go harsh on when they want to.

mkis0071h ago

Ill never forget the reviewer who tried to claim the "ride me like you ride your bike" line was anything but a joke...they (sarah and deacon) explicitly call it a joke and the reviewer still misinformed the reader about it as if it was a literal thing.

Michiel19891h ago

the score on metacritic is 71 from journos, its 9 points lower than your review so stop making stuff up. They didn't hate it from the start, they on average just liked it slightly less than you.

-Foxtrot1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

@Michiel1989

I'm not making anything up, they held a grudge against it and made stuff up themselves like mkis007 has just pointed out. That 71 on Metacritic is why it didn't get a sequel.

Anyway how can I make anything up when I didn't even mention metacritic in my original post?

Leeroyw3h ago

Second act of that game far surpassed the first. Which is why people felt it didn't live up to the hype of the trailers. Personally I loved it. But it was a slog to get your bike and weapons up to skill.

Inverno3h ago

Was gonna post a brick wall of text but I'll keep it short. Pardon my French but f**k the media for the hate they gave this game. If you have a PC to play it on you can get it as low as 10 bucks, and if you have a PS then it's a no brainer. Totally worth a play.

phatak2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

I don't even comment here often but had to for this game, I still stand by my opinion that this was one of the top 10 games of the ps4 generation, I preferred days gone over god of war, horizon and last of us 2, the launch version was definitely piss poor and that messed up the reviews for this game, honestly some games deserve a re-review or post patch review as the metacritic score stays forever but the reality is its not even the same game anymore, the ps5 patch is amazing and the pc version which I play on nowadays is one of the best looking games ever, complete shame that we wont get a sequel, god of war got one, horizon got one, last of us got one, spider man got one, ghosts of tshushima about to get one but this game wont get one, sucks to be honest.

Ps3/360 era had some hidden underated games for me it was shadows of the damned, alice madness returns that deserved more sales and a sequel/ higher scores, and similarly for the ps4 era it was days gone, and dying light 1 that deserved much more love, dying light atleast got a sequel, everyone needs to play this game once and judge for themselves, for me its officially the most underrated game of the ps4 era, go play it if you haven't.

andy852h ago

Awesome game. Just bought it for my laptop last week
