PS4 o’clock – Metal Gear Solid 5 gameplay on PS4

OPM: Here’s another entry of PS4 o’clock. This week, Leon and Meiks examine the new Metal Gear Solid 5 demo that was shown by Hideo Kojima at last week’s Tokyo Games Show. We discuss how MGS 5 on PS4 will differ from the current-gen version, while sneaking a peak under Snake’s stealthy apron strings to look at Ground Zeroes’ new enemy tagging system.

f**king awesome

getting it for ps4

If this one blows, it´s the end of MGS. WE don´t want "westernized" bs in MGS! Give us a MGS1 or 3 type of MGS ffs!

This one better blow me real good... it will sell well, but i bet the concensus will be = mediocre to avg. at best.

1nsomniac3874d ago

I just wish MGS would make up its mind & decide whether it wants to be a serious realistic game or a silly over the top game.

I know it has it's cult fans but I just can never get into it. It just feels like it's confused & doesn't know quite where to fit in & because of that it ends up not fitting in anywhere.

HiddenMission3874d ago

I'm thinking your very much alone considering the MGS titles uses usually sell at the 5 million unit level on a single console...so yeah if that's not fitting in then I don't know what is.

1nsomniac3874d ago

I agree I'm in the minority but I'm very westernised when it comes to gaming. I like games to be something & stick to it & I really dislike the whole emo vibe.

HiddenMission3874d ago

@1nsomniac

I don't really understand considering it was the west who came up with the emo phase and I've played every MGS game and none of them have characters who are emo except for maybe Raiden from part 2. The rest of the series characters all fit into a sci-fi twist on modern combat and economical policies.

The whole series has always be very western in myth and design minus the control schemes which have always been very mechanical and tactical in nature and that is just very Eastern/Japanese nature.

TheFirstClassic3874d ago

Cult isn't really a good word to describe a game that sells as much as mgs does.

I really like how the mgs series can tell deep engrossing stories but be very quirky at the same time.

SniperControl3874d ago

Have to wonder what this game would have been like if it was exclusive to PS4. Brings tears to my eyes seeing it being held back.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan186d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara186d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721186d ago (Edited 186d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus186d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow186d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga202d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19202d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19202d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq202d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger202d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder202d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils202d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder202d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85202d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420202d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim202d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo201d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
