Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, the revamped version of Square Enix's massively multiplayer online game, faced a rocky start with full servers due to "conservative estimates" on how many people would pick up the game, director Naoki Yoshida told Polygon.
Final Fantasy XIV fans can now properly benchmark their PCs and check out some of what's coming to their game this summer.

The Xbox profanity filter is currently ruining the readability of the FFXIV chat on Xbox Series X/S due to censored words.
Lol, damn... At this point, they were better off keeping FF XIV away from Xbox. It has been nothing but obstacle, after obstacle.
I'm not convinced this is the profanity filter. It doesn't make sense to censor words like class, harvest and dance. It seems to be a bug.
Yeah these new fangled filters are going a bit too far. I have a game that filters "wtf". It's a censor for a self-censoring phrase. But I think overall it's how it should be. If you don't want certain language being used in your game by your player base, then it's up to you to filter/ censor the language you don't want. I can respect that. What I can't respect is when you say things that are not really offensive then you get ostracized for it.
This is completely false, I tested this on my son's child account and mine, this is not Microsoft censoring they will censor swears but not the combination of letters I can prove this with a screenshot where I use all mentioned words in the article but do not know how to upload a picture.
conservative estimates is putting it mildly.
Made it to lvl 36 with my Paladin (really 36 with my GLA and 15 with my CNJ but you know what I mean) - it definitely is a pain to log-in during high traffic times but I refuse to stay logged in and rob another individual of their playtime if I can avoid it.. having said that I do understand why some may choose to do so.
But other than server issues (something associated with many MMO launches) the game is a lot of fun :D
The article pretty much explains what happened and why. After the disaster that FFXIV 1.0 was...Square-Eninx wasnt expecting too many people to rush right in, a second time around. They seriously thought everyone hated the game so much, that the user base for FFXIV AAR would be a lot smaller. Simply put...they made the wrong assumption and just wasnt prepared for the explosive launch this game had.
On top of all that, this is typically par for the course for most MMO's anyway. Guild Wars 2, EverQuest, WoW, FFXI, and so on...have all had pretty rough launches. It happens. It takes some time to get everything settled and adjusted to where the game is actually 100% playable with little to no inconvienence.
People need to be patient and have a little faith and understanding. We have a major maintenance tonight and should be finished by tomorrow. We can expect a lot of these issues to be improved and fixed.
Basically hes saying fuck americans and europeans. Just take it as that and stand up for your money spent not being able to play the dam game for almost 3 weeks.
Server ques are a good thing. Don't worry folks in a month or two half of the population will abandon this game and you will be able to log into your ghost towns without any issues.
