Microsoft revealed a new feature for DirectX 11.2 and Windows 8.1 today called “tiled resources” that enables a graphics card to display a huge amount of detail without overwhelming it with memory-intensive textures.
One of the big Xbox releases heading our way in May 2024 is the long-awaited Hypercharge Unboxed, which is finally bringing its "first and third-person shooter action figure game" to Xbox consoles on Friday, May 31st.
Sadly, ahead of launch, the game's official Twitter (or "X") account has been highlighting the "trolls" who are claiming that because it's not launching on Game Pass, Hypercharge Unboxed is already set up for failure on Xbox.
Just because our indie game isn't on game pass, doesn't mean it's "dead on arrival".

We hope you still give our action figure game a try. 💚 #xbox pic.twitter.com/3D8dhlWOvZ
It's horrible what people will say, but the truth might be harsh. There is a good chance it might not do well on Xbox if it's not on GamePass. There is a strong possibility that is the case. We'll see.
When it launches on Playstation in the future you can rest assured it will sell much better. The devs have confirmed it's coming to Playstation in the future.
"It is built in the Unreal Engine 4. The game was released on the Nintendo eShop on January 31, 2020 and on Steam on April 27, 2020. The development of Hypercharge: Unboxed for the Xbox platform was officially announced on July 16, 2022, with the developers also confirming future support for the PlayStation."
I remember having this on my radar years ago for the Switch but never pulled the trigger on it. Crazy it's still not on PlayStation yet.
The upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong has a chance to change up the formula from the first game in a unique way by giving Hornet her own armory.
The Velvet Room is one of Persona's most notable features, but Persona 6 will have a hard time topping some of the room's past incarnations.
huh?
it could literally be anything at this point.
its not the room itself, its how they handle the interior design of the room.
I think it depends more on the voice actors, characters and the feature in the room. It could be in an office for all I care.
Watched this live. Watching the developers build right now as well. That's crazy it's able to greatly reduce memory needs/use by performing better textures most devs would not even attempt due to the hit to other resources.
Got to correct some info though...
"Windows 8.1 and next-gen consoles"
^^That's not true this feature is only on 8.1 windows and Xbox One.
I know this statement could be a PC world generalization for console vs PC
Crossing my finger on the reveal of the XB1 spec details at BUILD in the next few days but knowing MSFT Sony bumping up their specs to match XB1(RAM) will cause MSFT to wait until it's too late for Sony to match. Rumor has it MSFT might have issued an NDA on the specs because of the first leak resulting in a PS4 spec bump.
Anyways this DirectX 11.2 tech will allow some new gameplay methods in games(games like watchdogs where you find clues like track marks on junkies :P
XB1 games speak for themselves but this is added greatness.
What they're talking about is already the way textures work. As you get closer to them higher res textures are displayed.
I can't find any information saying it's anything different than what's already being done.
Soo........partially resident textures? That's cool
In before the PS fans claiming it as nothing more than PR talk like the cloud.
OT, the Xbox One is looking better and better each day.
Link doesn't work for me. It sounds cool though.
