What Japanese Gamers Have to Say About The Cheaper PS Vita

The PS Vita is doing much better these days. The game library is still not as robust as I'd like, but I don't get depressed so much when I check the Vita section of my regular game store these days.

josephayal4020d ago

In Japan, the PS Vita is by far the more popular portable

darren_poolies4020d ago

I love the Vita but no it isn't, not even close.

Brucis4020d ago

Except for the fact that it's not.

Dan_scruggs4020d ago

LOL wut? You apparently live in a bubble. The 3DS is far more popular.

LOL_WUT4020d ago

I haven't said anything what the heck?

Fergusonxplainsall4020d ago

If only people knew how awesome the Vita really is compared to the 3DS. The 3ds does cater to the young at heart. Since i'm 27 Vita is my all time favorite handheld i've ever held.

The fun level for me..

3DS fun level about a 2, while Vita is a whopping 4 out of 5 on fun level. Plus it's futureproofed.

Once people know, the numbers will show. The 3DS has nintendo games, while Vita has crossplay, PS1 and PSP games, mobile games, and tons of great games out or soon tba.

Sales will pick up, no doubt.

3-4-54020d ago

uhh...go check the 30 million 3DS's sold compared to the 4 million Vita's.

Have you ever done math before ?

Vita will sell more once it gets more quality games.

Fergusonxplainsall4020d ago

I got a Vita and 3DS. I have bought more games on the vita then i could ever want on 3DS.
There's the cross-play games,PS classics, mobile games and great PSP games like all the GTA's.

Think about this, i bought Sly Cooper(great game),EDF, DOA,MLB 13, NFS most wanted and Soul Sacrifice all for the Vita. For my 3DS this year i only bought Luigi Mansion.

Then i got PS plus which gave me Gravity Rush, Uncharted GA, Jet Set Radio, Wipeout and a ton of fighting games:D to play.

Yeah and I only expect even more awesome for Vita at E3.

PS Vita + PS4 = A future proof handheld setup.

thechosenone4020d ago (Edited 4020d ago )

So how many price cuts did the 3DS get until it started picking up steam? How quickly gamers forget that 3DS was sucking big inflatable balls not too long ago and checkout the comments section, man people were pissed back then. xD

Once Sony drops the price and lowers the cost of memory cards you'll see a quick turnaround.

"Nintendo posts earnings, drops 3DS from $249 to $169 August 12th, current owners get 20 free games."

http://www.engadget.com/201...

Erimgard4020d ago

Sony DID drop the price of the Vita in Japan. It sold great for two weeks afterwards (around 60K units two weeks in a row) and since then it has been selling around 20K a week.

The 3DS is selling at a pace of around 70K a week in Japan.

But the Vita is still young. It has time to establish itself if Sony brings quality titles to it.

duli144020d ago

I'm pretty sure he's just trolling you guys lol

kamakaz3md4020d ago

haha, i like all the disagree's you got as if everyone on this site lives in japan and knows how well the vita is doing in that country... people need to get a life, and stop crying, just read the persons opinion, and dont give a negative reply, smh.

Erimgard4020d ago

It's not an "opinion" if it can be factually proven wrong. Japan's sales are released weekly, and as I stated above, the 3DS is selling around 70K a week and the Vita (since its price cut) is selling around 20K a week.

And some people still say that the Vita has no games.

:(

P.S : I personally dont believe that but i can understand why some people say it. And thats because it doesnt have Monster Hunter or Nintendo games.

3-4-54020d ago

The games that are available though...aren't for everyone and don't appeal to everyone, hence why thery aren't being bought like you and other's think they should.

End of 2013 you will start to get exciting news about Vita's future in terms of games.

Hicken4020d ago

No console's entire library is for everyone and appeals to everyone. The Wii has been the number 1 seller for most of this current generation, but had precious few games that appealed to me.

Comparatively, what IS available on the Vita is pretty wide-reaching, in terms of variety.

It's not that we believe the games should be bought up in any particular quantities. It's that perpetuated falsity that there are no games to buy. There is, arguably, something for everyone, if only one game. Puzzlers, racers, platformers, fighters, rpgs. It's all there. Whether an individual personally likes them is a different story, as is whether a person even gives them a chance, like CommonSenseGamer doesn't.

I agree that the system is just getting warmed up. Still, it should be rather evident that some people just don't WANT to admit there are any games worth playing; those are the most vocal around here.

DEATHxTHExKIDx4020d ago

Sounds like ppl want more games.

imXify4020d ago

PSP's best selling games series aren't on Vita yet...that's why.

Tultras4020d ago

The ONE thing that stops me from utilising my vita are the memory cards.

I got a vita as a gift, but I haven't used it because the memory cards are too damn expensive.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga1d 5h ago (Edited 1d 5h ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1821d 4h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie19h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

RNTody1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno1d 6h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Sheppard7t31d 4h ago

How did Sony kill the series?

Inverno1d 4h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

13h ago
fsfsxii15h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno13h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
