Will Microsoft call its next generation console the Xbox Fusion? Domain names point to yes

If Microsoft has learned anything from its previous mistakes with launching a product without the matching domains -- then it's quite possible that the company's next generation console will be called the "Xbox Fusion". Microsoft owns the name in a variety of different extensions and it has for years. Speculation about the name being called "Xbox Fusion" isn't anything new. But what separates "Xbox Fusion" and only a few other names from the rest of the list, is that not only does Microsoft own the dot-com, it owns a slew of other domains like XboxFusion.info, XboxFusion.biz, XboxFusion.de, XboxFusion.co.uk - the list goes on and on.

The amounts of laughs and dbz meme's getting thrown around would be insane, you could very well say it will be over 9000;)

Fusion likely refers to AMD's Fusion System Architecture.

CEOSteveBallmer4022d ago

No I think the reason its called fusion is because of a gaming console fusing with a cable entertainment box.

DeadlyFire4022d ago

Xbox Live Fusion. PC and console gaming together.

Windows 8 on next Xbox definitely a yes. I am thinking ARM edition, but you never know with Microsoft. Possibly a reference to PC and Xbox co-existing with more PC titles from Xbox developers maybe?

dcbronco4021d ago

Fire, you might be onto something. It's also possible it could refer to having two APUs with different CPUs working together. MS has been working on making different types of systems work together. This may be a combination of an ARM, Power and/or x86 architecture APUs working seamlessly together.

Another possibility is that it will be a sort of dual machine where it can play console and PC games. That would really be the move. There are a lot of PC RTS' I would like to get.

Xbox Fusion might just be the name of a software or feature. I've always felt that the popularly rumored "Super Xbox" sounds about right.

Bigpappy4022d ago

I agree with your first statement

InMyOpinion4022d ago

They should call it Xe-Boxo 驚くべき精神 Zwei.

Would guarantee ownership of the japanese market lol.

Braid4021d ago (Edited 4021d ago )

Bad idea.

Remember how Super Nintendo was called SNES? In that regard Super Xbox would be called "SXBOX", which might be confused with something... well, very different than what it actually is.

Other options: SUXBOX, SUPXBOX... as you can see both are equally terrible.

AngelicIceDiamond4022d ago

Xbox fusion or Xbox Infinite sounds right to me.

LOL_WUT4022d ago

I don't know but I like fusion better ;)

Evil_Ryu4022d ago

it should be called Y-box because Y comes after x

thebudgetgamer4022d ago

Sounds like something I would shave my face with.

LogicStomper4022d ago

Gillete fusion, with all new ultra-thin tri-blade technology allows closer shaves...
