No, no it won't be a beast. We have the specs and they are confirmed. It's what you would expect. Nothing more, there are MUCH more powerful 'beasts' out there. Ps4 isn't one and it's not supposed to be. If it was a beast of a system it would defeat the purpose of a console(cheap enough, prebuilt hardware) and would have heating issues. Some GPU's alone cost 500+. They are the 'beasts' atm.

And god.. going from 4Gb - 8gb's GDDR-5 Ram. People think that will somehow have a drastic affect on the performance or quality of the games. That is the reason Sony and companies in general talk about Ram. Non tech savvy folk have no idea what it means.

Supporting them doesn't mean they will be standard in every game or that the system will even be able to handle them with "ALL of the environment is destructible". My old geforce 8600 could support DX 10. Doesn't mean it could actually use it well. The Ps3 supported Native 1080P. How many games used Native 1080P?

Crysis 3 came out almost 4 years later, but anyway KZ's "per pixel Motion Blurr" says hallo.
Now don't even start about graphical fidelity because the way Crysis has been stamped together is lazy and clunky as hell.
Adding effects already present in Direct X doesn't equall quality GFX, Crysis has rain drops circle the ground lapping over one and other all over the place, just lazy shit.
Cut off textures and weird animation loops.
The game feels like it has no soul.

Killzone ha these effects hand writen on places, no silly lazy mistakes like that.

While some trolls will try and say the PS4 doesn't compare to PC's out there, you need to compare apples to apples. Show me a PC that costs less than $500 that performs like the PS4. Can't? Exactly.

It's all about performance divided by price. If you need to spend 3 grand on a PC to run graphics that look as good as PS4's Killzone, you're doing it wrong. The value proposition just isn't there. It's like comparing a Ferrari 458 to a Nissan GTR. You can get similar performance numbers on tracks out of both, but one costs 2-3 times as much as the other.

Well he had a very, very strong run in the beginning of this gen. But his decline happened after he lost to Jago, and then lost to Marn later in that same tournament awhile back. Since then he has not been the same threat. But I think part of that is due to players realizing he can be beat and breaking down that mental block... Seriously, I'm not trolling when I ask this question, but...do you think consoles are heading towards irrelevance? When you consider the rising costs to obtain one--somewhere between $500-600 potentially--one could purchase a fairly decent and very capable PC rig for just slightly more quid, and you'd have access to hardware and software mods to extend the life of your PC and your most beloved games, respectively (which you currently cannot do with a console). Granted, there are stigmas that come with owning a PC as well that some people would rather not fuss with, but PS3 games already require an install--just like a PC and it's not that different if you ask me.

With that said, it's clear that consoles are essentially becoming PCs only in a much smaller box geared toward the end user. But we already know, most people do not enjoy simply being treated as an end user anymore--in other words, they want to know that they will be able to "jail-break" or modify their existing hardware.

And so the two main questions that I'm getting at are:

1.Where does the line eventually get drawn to differentiate the two?

2. And if that line becomes blurry/trivial, will consoles remain relevant?

I don't that they're going into irrelevance. If anything, Valve's move toward the Steam Box is showing that the common PC is not as efficient as consoles are when it comes to how much power it needs to do gaming.

A PC with similar specs to a PS3 can't run uncharted, or God of War.

I disagree with the saying that most people want to jail break or modify their consoles. The vast majority just want something that you turn on and play. It's not a like a cell phone where you want to unlock it so you can use it on a different carrier or something like that.

I don't know if/when PC's will be as dedicated as consoles. I keep saying that a PC is similar to having someone with supped up Toyota Supra with 1200 HP. Very powerful and probably can do a quarter mile in 7 seconds or so. But That same Supped up Supra with 1200 HP run a circuit as fast nor as efficiently as a 500 HP formula 1 car designed from the ground up for that one purpose only.

So yes 1200HP is greater than 500HP, but a lot depends on the machine making use of the that power.

I'd have to disagree, good consumer practice, providing me with an abundance of great games over many years, and ps+ has lead me to have brand loyalty with Sony, since getting a ps1 I have brought there consoles at launchto support them and in turn support me getting quality games. From what I've read from articles and comments, the PS4 is indeed a beast and huge step up from the PS3, Xbox 360 and wii u. However PC folks have been saying its weak compared to PCs and my only way to respond to that....So what?
As long as the PS4 has the specs to make bigger more creative worlds and games, make online play more enjoyable, and improve upon everything the PS3 did, how is that a bad thing? I wanted a new next gen console, not a PC.
I've mostly gamed on my console for 15 years, just jumped onto PC gaming a year ago and currently enjoy gaming on both PC, console and handheld. Cant we just stop with non stop trolling and look forward to what next gen gaming will bring?

I love PC gaming but it seems that desktop PC's in the household are really only good for gaming anymore (with the exception of a few people).

With smartphones and tablets taking over the everyday tasks that PC's and laptops did a few years ago it is only a matter of time that the demand for PC's will start to decline.

PC gaming is here to stay, but desktop PC's will soon be a thing of the past with laptops following shortly behind. This is somewhat obvious with the big moves Steam and Microsoft have been making in the last year or two. Steam with the gaming console and Microsoft with Windows 8.

Last time I checked the PS3 was suppose to be stronger then the 360 and MS slapped Sony in the face taking away half of Sony's market share, selling a console that is over priced, making a console that developers find easier to program for, having better 3rd party support and games, making hand over fist in revenue for their gaming division etc.

Seems to me MS are in a much better position going into next gen to me.

Lets just hope that Sony didn't over promise and will eventually under deliver with their PS4 like they have done since the PS2.

I agree. My main concern during the PS4 reveal is when it was made evident that several of the features they showed may not be there for release and may never come to fruition. I still don't get the PS4 reveal. Didn't we all know it was coming, were we all that surprised? I am more looking forward to Sonys E3 conference when they actually can show/tell me what is going to ready day one. I hope when MS reveals their next gen. console they show the thing, give me a solid price point, and a solid release date. I really don't understand the PS4 reveal, it felt very rushed to me.

IMO we all KNOW these systems will be coming, but I don't want to see a glimpse, I want price point and release date. If you can't show me that, then wait.

OK lets have a look at the parts. Mobile APU. 8 core cpu at 1.6ghz (low - midrange) 8GB GDDR5 (really good) 7850 ish graphics card (mid range). If you look at what AMD says are the ranges for its products you will see that it is mid range. In no way does it make it bad but comparing it to a high end 6 core i7 + GTX 680 or Titan and it does not look as rosey.

I don't see a whole lot of people claiming it won't be a good console or that it will be "trash". What I do see a fair bit of is the PC community trying to quiet the console crowd from trying to claim this thing will run anything under the sun as good as even a top-end gaming pc or that console gaming is the only way to go.

PC gaming does sort of pay for itself down the road. Not to mention you simply get more out of your games, usually, when considering the PC version.
If you are a die-hard gamer, I argue that spending a grand or so on a rig is a "crap ton" of money. Especially when it opens up different possibilities that just aren't possible with consoles and how they are designed.

All you buttpirates downplaying the machines technical leap, are crackheads.
Wii-U, for instance, launched & we had no spec details, until the machine had already been on the market for weeks.
Nintendo, the lowly scumbags, told nobody a damn thing,....but, there fanboys were happy, as at least they showed the outer casing, & a control that will continue to be an overpriced, game GPS & general distraction to what your playing, if you have to keep breaking immersion into your game, by pulling your eyes away from the VERY MAIN SCREEN THAT YOU PAID THE BIG BUCKS TO PLAY YOUR GAMES ON. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I prefer to keep my eyes on my 64" Samsung (that I could barely afford), & get sucked into my games, giving me that totally immersed feeling, rather than switching back & forth, which does everything to break your game & pulls you back in & out, as looking back & forth at my hands, holding a giant controller, with a screen, makes that immersive feeling suffer.
Now, to get back on Song, Nintendo deceived us on purpose & avoided handing out specs, for the very reason, millions of gamers, including myself, suspected.....and that is because the machine is waaaaay underpowered & low spec'd....I mean, I can't be the only one who kind of knew that they were Wii 2 us again, with a machine with gen old console specs. This was blatently evident, after they showed us the expensive looking controller, as affordability could not be achieved, with even 4gig of ram, let alone the 8 that Sony are offering.
Had Nintendo of launched Wii-U, with 4gig of ram, & other specs that were slightly above, middle of the road modern pc's specs, & given us a 320 or 500gig hdd, & a controller that was more befitting with there 8&16 bit glory days, meaning a controller that was made for hardcore console gaming & relied on comfort in hand, excellently laid out & feeling buttons, obviously dual analogue sticks (that everyone forgets IS COPIED FROM SONY, which is why Nintendo fought it for so long), & just going for a high powered machine, with a controller that is seen as one of the best, & with those attributes that made them THE BEST 16bit machine, I think Nintendo would have attracted back that hardcore audience, that now is laughing at them again, after that joke of a thing called Wii.
I am not a hater either, as I have 2 Wii-U's (I know, nuts, for a machine that is sinking faster than the Titanic)..I find the Wii-U is a better attempt than Wii, & the gimmick this time, is slightly superior in scope. But, Nintendo are a shadow of there former self, & they have done themselves no favors rushing out a machine that is grossly underpowered, & doesn't even have a "real" Mario game to sell it. I mean, another 2D POS, please Nintendo, this is a new console, it should have launched with a f$#king mindblowing HD 3D Mario as Myamato's swansong, before he moved on to making a more adult themed, M rated, new IP.

Wii-U has 1gig of ram, PS3 has 256mb (or 512mb, if you included the side that we were told could be accessed for game purposed, but nobody ever seemed able to do), & 360 had 512mb or ram.......
So, taped together ALL 3 machines barely scrape up to 2gig of ram. I mean, Nintendo's brand spanking new machine, that only launched Dec 2012, ONLY has 1 measly gig of ram, I mean, not even double that of an 8yr old machine in 360. All Nintendo really had to do, to get people more excited was throw in 2gig GDDR5 to help it keep up, for a little while with PS4 & 720....but I do not care what anyone tries convincing themselves, PS4 is coming this year, & the launch games & all other 1st gen titles are gonna wipe the floor with Wii-U's 5th gen games.
Wii-U is already old hat, & a machine with specs as far ahead of at as PS4's are, poor old Wii-U games are going to look embarrassingly bad.

I mean, put Ratchet & Clank on PS3 up against Mario Galaxy 2, & the visual fidelity & prowess of the Insomniac masterpieces are incredibly superior.
Imagine what Insomniac could do with Ratchet on PS4.
People can bash PS4 & downplay it all they like, but fact is, this powerful beast is coming, & it will kick a$$.....regardless of pc fanboys ramblings about card that cost $500 alone & crap.

These consoles may be outdated by pc's very quickly in terms of specs & even some games.....but, these consoles are built by really great engineers, to basically do ONE thing really great, & that is, play games.
And, that being said, PS4 & 720 games will be impressing open minded REAL GAMERS, for the next 6-7 years.
And anyhow, pc fanboys.......Consoles determine ALL games quality now.....& if we want your PC games dumbed down for our superior consoles, then by George, we will get them. Suck on it. PS4 launches holidays 2013, & I will be standing in line at one of my stores, at midnight launch, cash in fist, ready to buy a very high powered Sony console, that has been given the benefit of a large input from gamers that also happen to be some of the best game developers, & this is a huge step forward for consoles in general, as gamers like myself, & the developers of many of the games I love, are the ones who benefit.

Nobody is saying any of that at all. What people are saying is that it is a very capable console that is far more powerful than past consoles. This is what most people were expecting and wanting. To those who wanna hate for absolutely no reason whatsoever, they'll be missing out. When i see a valid reason to put the thing down I'll be the first to agree, but until then i'll point out stupidity when it arises.

People: stop comparing the PS4 to a gaming PC. Don't compare consoles and pc's period. Apples and oranges folks! The PS4 is a beast in the console world. It is roughly 4 times the power of the PS3 and 360 and far more ram to work with. Due to the relative ease of development for software, we should be seeing some pretty beautiful stuff in the coming years. To those hating and doubting, sucks for you. I'll be enjoying my purchase this holiday season. :-). This console is exactly what I was wanting and expecting.

I just hope the games Evolve. It would be sad to see the PS4 have all that power but continue to feature 8 hour linear adventures with stapled on MP modes only worth renting.

I know the PS4 will be getting a Good Load of PC Games to give Sony fans what they have been missing but lets see what 3rd party and First party Devs do with all that might.

I expect 100 Disagrees from Sony fanboys, any less and I would think some of you are re-gaining your senses.

While I'm not totally blown away by the PS4 graphics (KZ SF looks comparable to Crysis 3), I am happy that PC games will have some good visual bumps as devs heavily consider (or even develop around) the lowest common denominator for multi plats.

It won't be a beast. It's launching with a mid-range GPU and a bunch of tablet CPUs. That doesn't matter however because unlike on a PC developers will be able to actually use all the hardware that's in the machine to its fullest extent. If a PC with the hardware in a PS2 game out it wouldn't be able to play God of War 2 in the same way the PS2 could.

To those saying that Killzone SF is on the same level as Crysis 3, how about that draw distance in the KZ demo? I don't see Crysis 3 doing that with anything comparable on CONSOLES. Someone provide a screenshot from Crysis 3 for consoles up against that opening footage(ship coming in from above) from KZSF. I doubt it will even be close. Stop bringing the pc to console fight. It doesn't make any sense.
