I liked connor and altier more simply because they act as assassins .. ezio is not. however he was lucky that he had 2 extra game to develop more and show his potential. I didn't like him well in ac2 because of his "Yeah I will not let that happen .. I am an assassin.. I know what I am doing" attitude. he just become one for revenge and in shorter period of time. his climbing ability is one thing but killing well trained people in the start of the game is .. unrealistic.

when you become connor in ac3 and reach the time where he wear the assassin hood .. you feel that he really become an assassin. you feel it.

Altair started as an arrogant, emotionless, cold killer .. how an assassin should be like and had years of training .. and in the end of the game you will be surprised how he have developed and changed. his display for emotions, his doubts.. with each life he takes, not like ezio where he kills and move on. for me alteir is the fucking best assassin and one of the best character this gen. seeing how he died in a fucking chair was epic and painful

revelation's Ezio is different story though .. he is awesome (just by seeing how mature he have become ) .. I just can't laugh at him anymore when replying ac2 (knowing what he had become).

None of the Assassins in the series are particularly stealthy (don't say Altair, he was marginally stealthier but still ended up fighting off hordes of people). It'd be nice if they were stealthier but the Hashhashin they were based on were anything but and that was their MO, so that's understandable. In each game, there is a time for stealth and a time for slaughtering everyone in sight, though and I think it is pretty well balanced.

Don't really see how the funeral thing in AC3 was stupid. Yeah the enemy was there but it's his father and he used the funeral as a way to get close to Lee. It was a calculated risk (much like an assassin would make...)

I couldn't take Ezio seriously until Revelations. Flaunting around like a peacock in a giant white cape is the exact opposite of stealthy. Especially at night. He turned out pretty cool in the end, though.

naive ..and that is why he is more believable than ezio.. who kills people .. and start making jokes the next. nobody is perfect and from what your saying its like people want the perfect guy, the guy who has no flaws.. doesn't make mistakes ,who is always above everyone , the lady's shit ..that kind is the most boring type to me. apart from the "freedom" crap he is awesome. as an assassin he trained, he didn't become one over night .. he never wanted to become one actually but only for his people .. the assassin thing is a secondary to him ..

his people wanted to fight with him and what did he said to them " I am fighting so that you don't have to" .. its just lines like these that make you respect and love this character ..
if you see him angry .. I mean what do you expect, his mother died, his village was burned .. how are you expecting other from the grumpy one you have, you should understand how he become the way he is instead of the this " he should smile more.. how about some joke?" kind of shit

Altair and Ezio will not be forgotten, simply because of the fact that Assassin's Creed games are story-driven and people tend to remember great stories.

Besides, They're not your typical "okay, these guys are historical killer dudes and you are to kill people aaand that's about it." type of bland and single dimensional/flat characters. They have great personal back stories with historical foundations and a gorgeously written main story arch which evolves around them. That allows gamers to create a special kind of bond between the characters they play as. We experienced Ezio's youth, old ages and death, there has to be at least "some" epic moments that you could remember. That's a whole life you witnessed after all, almost on par with Snakes' stories from MGS games, with Altair being the ancestor and Ezio, Desmond and Connor being successors. Seeing the similarity? That shows you how great and rich the story of AC games is, and that's exactly why you won't forget Ezio Auditore da Firenze, also known as the "il mentore", or Altair The Grandmaster of the Assassins.

Jokes aside I truly believe the remembrance of a character is dependent on the previous generation of gamers it was introduced to along with the new generation of gamers that grew up with it.

Let me try to elaborate, when I was younger I played two games on the Sega Genesis called Vectorman and Vectorman 2. I personally thought that Vectorman was a really funny character so to me he won't be forgotten, now I try to go ask a new gamer this gen, "Ever heard of a guy named Vectorman?" He/She will just tilt their head to their right and give me a confused look.

The reason that characters like Sonic and Mario are still remembered is because they have a video game every generation so lets just say we lived in a world where the last Sonic game was Sonic & Knuckles and Mario's last game was Super Mario World. Would you think people in this era of consoles would know who those two iconic characters are then?

I personally find it more fitting for a character to have some conclusion rather then having said character in N amount of sequels.

If their tales of grandeur and heroism left an impact on the player themselves then I personally wouldn't see the need for them to continue on in another iteration.

I'm glad this gaming generation introduced me to such epic characters. Playing games to me is like "playing" a book. The story is cohesive and the characters are usually likable. Characters that definitely hit home to me this gen are:

Marcus Fenix (Gears of War series)
Captain Price (COD: Modern Warfare series)
Viktor Reznov (COD: Black Ops series)
Cole Macgrath (Infamous series)
Old Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid 4)
Sackboy (Little Big Planet series)
Kratos (God of War series)
Commander Shepard (Mass Effect series)
Niko Bellic (Grand Theft Auto 4)
Ezio Auditore (Assasin's Creed)
John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
Claprap (Borderlands)
GLaDOS (Portal)

Each of these characters flourished in their own ways (if I missed any, I'm sorry). Most of these characters are from PS3 games, with a few exceptions. I have a Wii, an Xbox 360 and a PS3, and I wished Microsoft would have made more original IPs with their console. Yes they have Halo, Forza, and Gears, but I wish more companies could get on that. I can;t wait for the next Xbox and Playstation consoles however, and hopefully none will disappoint. Oh, and don't even get me started on Nintendo....I mean, I guess it's cool to use so many of the same characters, but a little variety couldn't hurt.

I agree 100% on Niko. He was the most real character on the list.

I never felt connected to Ezio. His games were fun but.. he just wasn't that interesting I was always more interested in, Altair and his story.

Lee, is by far one of the greatest characters of all time.. and this from me.. being the farthest from a fan of the walking dead franchise. I felt bad for Lee. I wanted to know what really happened with him and his wife. I wanted to see him be the best surrogate dad to Clem he could be in such a broken world.

Shepard, was far too boring, there is nothing interesting about Shepard. He's just another space marine blah blah blah he shoots stuff and kills aliens and bangs aliens.. I loved the first Mass Effect. Liked 2.. and like many I couldn't stand 3. I cared more about all the other characters than I did Shepard.

My only attachment I had to Soap was him being the guy I played as in MW.. when he died I didn't care. He was just another, Tacticool Soldier.
