Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation Review [Capsule Computers]

Joshua Spudic of Capsule Computers writes:

"Assassin’s Creed III Liberation is the first for the series for a few reasons. It is the first title on the Playstation Vita. It is the first to offer a female playable assassin who is not Desmond’s ancestor. It introduces new mechanics that provide a love/hate relationship. With a console counterpart looming over it, is Assassin’s Creed III Liberation good enough to bring those players to the Playstation Vita? In short, yes it will."

One of the few games I've considered buying a Vita for.

I bought my Vita for this game, along with a few others. Definitely worth it, not just for this game, there are so many great games for the Vita.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation has glitches but nothing game breaking. What I have found so far:

Screen goes black when purchasing or using a changing booth.
In ability to jump on land or swim without having to dive.
Falling through the world.
Riding in mid air 10 feet in front of an alligator during kill(similar to glitchy dragon slaying in Skyrim)
The game only thinks I have played for 3 hours when I have put almost 10 into the game.
A couple chest appear on map but not on screen.

My score for this game: 8/10
-2 for the glitches and the poor light/ball puzzles.

Pros:
Lengthy open world game, with interesting story and lovable characters. Great visuals and pretty solid gameplay. Excellent voice over work and fun use of a FB style MP game and "near" features.

Cons:
Glitches, damn light and ball puzzles are just not well made. Few frame hiccups every now and then. Would like some more side missions, even though there are a good amount.

I'm gonna pick this up for sure now

i think it's best purchased two weeks form now, maybe by then a second patch will fix most of the bugs :)

I enjoyed it. I final got to play and beat it and I found it enjoyable. Being without power I got to enjoy each mission more when I got my Vita charged. I found it a little frustrating towards the end only because of the secondary task to get 100% sequence.

I also found the shining the rear camera towards the light, a pain and pointless in a way. A wasted use of the rear camera. This is a great game, but not perfect.

Myst4186d ago

I understand what you mean the camera pointing segments were quite frustrating. I was just playing a few moments ago and I got up to go towards my lamp, before I even took one step apparently my floor counted and let me pass with ease. Either way fun game going back and forth doing some last minute bits myself.

I advise everyone to skip this or buy it used for under 20. Its buggy and has a few gamebreaking glitches. Its not worth playing if you cant finish the darn game. They rushed this out to sell off of AC3 and it worked. Too bad the game doesnt work also. Skip it on principal.

Godchild10204186d ago

What gamebreaking glitches? I havent had my Vita connected to the internet, so I haven't had any updates or got a chance to play online, but I beat the game and had no issues stopping me from beating the game. The game has issues but they are not groundbreaking, the game is playable.

If this was a real rushed job, this is the best looking rushed job I've played.

Do connect it :D PS systems neeeeed to be connected and updated all the time :D

Godchild10204185d ago

At Medziarz, I can't I don't have an internet connection in my house at the moment. I'm in one of those states that was hit with superstorm Sandy, so I can't receive an internet connection in my house only through my phone and that is spotty.

Once my area gets back power, I will be connected again.

I advise no one listen to this guy cause I think he is trolling

Easily one of Vita's great games despite the bugs and probably one of the longest vita games I've ever played :D

Loved his English accent. But as an assassin, he was an out n out pirate.

FlexLuger3110d ago (Edited 3110d ago )

Ezio! Plus leonardo davinci made all his fancy killing gear. Nuff said.

EDIT: And Ezio was the best dressed too. They nailed that italian flair with his outfit. Most stylish assisn too, then!

GigawattConduit3110d ago

Man, I would love a film of Ezio and da Vinci together, just on adventures. They're the perfect duo.

guitarded773110d ago

Ezio is the bestest assassinz. The other characters don't even compare. Conner was the worst.

PerfidiousSinn3110d ago

Ezio has a half-cape. He wins by default.

GigawattConduit3110d ago

The secret to the awesomeness of the Assassins has finally been revealed!

Relientk773110d ago (Edited 3110d ago )

Ezio

Hands down and he has the coolest full name

Ezio Auditore da Firenze

GigawattConduit3110d ago

Pretty sure that's Italian for "I'M THE BEST AND I CONQUER ALL OF YOU"

Heyxyz3110d ago

Best: Ezio!

Worst: The one from Unity (he was so bad I forgot his name).

GigawattConduit3110d ago

Hey, he wasn't that bland! His name was Brad, jeez.

Castlevania3110d ago

Arno. He was kinda bland (or so people say).

Mystogan3110d ago

Nah the worst was Ratuhnkahetun AKA Connor.

Dark_Overlord3109d ago

Totally agree, I hate AC3 due to him. How could they create such an unlikable character :/ I preferred Haytham to him.
