Games Like Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

Grand Theft Auto is known as the king of the free roam/sandbox genre but there are plenty of other notable games in this game genre. If you are a fan of the GTA game series and looking for your next game, then maybe one of the 13 games on this list will take your fancy.

I wish developers could make more open world games like GTA i mean we only got Saints row and GTA.

Well yea open world games are in short supply, though here are some others:

Stalker Series
Fall out Series
Witcher 1
Skyrim
Crysis 1

You could porbably consider Assassins creed Semi open world too.

Do you not consider other games in the elder scrolls series to be open world? Oblivion, Morrowind?

Also Red Faction Guerrilla and Just Cause 2 are very fun open world games.

reynod4393d ago

You could add Batman AC to that list, Imo batman was one of last years best games.

Pintheshadows4393d ago

Sleeping Dogs could be good but you are right. There aren't enough.

I was thinking i'd love R* to take their expertise at creating period parodies (Vice City, San Andreas, RDR) and direct it toward the Vietnam war. Helos, Patrol Boats, larger than life characters, and a detailed open world. I bet they'd reinvent the war game.

It could be because I just watched Platoon.

What happen to Just Cause 2 and Mercenaries 2? I found these games great open world games.

Imagine being so rich that another Billion is just not worth the hassle... LoL :) -Sorry just can't relate...

thorstein182d ago

Reminds me of the story of some ultra rich d-bag that had so much wine that he couldn't possibly drink it all so he had to sell like 10 million dollars worth of it. No one has earned that much wealth without exploiting others.

Roarke181d ago

Thats not true.. there are ppl who for example discovered cure are super rich due patent..

Cacabunga180d ago

A GTA movie will end like a fast and furious.. omg one of the worst movie series ever..

Notellin180d ago

@Roarke The scientist that discoveres the cure doesn't become rich. The patent will belong to Lilly, Pfizer, Merck, or Roche.

The money made is then disseminated amongst the executive board members and administration teams who provide zero value to the company. The scientists will continue to be exploited receiving raises and bonuses that do not beat inflation.

Again exploiting others in order to become rich.

XiNatsuDragnel181d ago

Well gta is too successful to get a movie can't relate 🙃

northpaws181d ago

Which is fine, I would much rather all gaming companies just focus on making good games.
