Thuway gets his tweets reported on if he says "goodmorning" as insider info. It's ridiculous and needs to stop. Rumors are supposed to have some actual evidence behind them, ie, Kotaku's leaked images of Unity, which were unconfirmed at the time. That's a rumor, not Ashan Rasheed says PS4 is going to have good games this year.

Problem with being an insider is that even your conjecture is taken as you "knowing something". And when you have places like DualShockers trying to turn every single post someone makes into "news", and places like this trying to aggregate every game-related post on the web, it quickly spreads a lot farther and a lot faster than you intended.

That would be nice. When I see the word insider, I think the word source, just some guy who may or may not know someone, somewhere, with the only real merit to their claims of being an insider being that gaf verified it.

There are real developers out there who say all sorts of stuff about their games or the industry every day. On twitter, on gamasutra, on gaf, on their own blogs, and we hardly see those stories at all.

I know the insiders do get some stuff right, in fact quite a bit sometimes, but these articles citing their work need to go and verify what is said by doing some real journalism. This desire to be the first to "break" the story is harmful and a disservice to the reader, and those that are being reported on.

It's nice having a secondary source that can cut through the PR BS, but if that information can't be verified then it's not a credible source. As such, stories that cite sources should never be credited to these sources, but written up as a story that speculates on the issue, and is very distinguishable as an opinion piece.

Col Rogers or whatever his name is is a Douchebag, plain and simple. According to him he left to go indie, well whoopy fn do. Unless he was fired, it doesn't matter how he left as Driveclub was still in development and still has no release date, he was lead on this project and up and left leaving his team holding the bag. That is being a douchebag. Pete Dodd and who is and isn't insider is not the issue, Col's behavior is.

Then he never should have taken the job if the travel was a problem. I travel 75% of time and live 102 nights a year in a hotel just to make sure my wife and daughter have what they need. Also you dont leave a well paying job with benefits (which probably included health insurance) to start up a business when you have sick family.
