PS4 'Perfect Day' Commercial Gets New Meaning in Light of Lou Reed's Tragic Passing

Hardcore Gamer: Although Reed would probably lament the fact that a commercial of all things would recall the strength of his music, the "Perfect Day" ad now acts like a stirring tribute to the master musician and hopefully has inspired a new generation to discover his brilliant work.

Now it's a nice tribute to him, love this commercial. RIP Lou Reed.

admiralvic3852d ago

No doubt. I am sad I keep seeing the abridged version now a days. RIP Lou Reed, hopefully your memory will live on in PS Gamers for years to come.

Lou Reed passing is sad.

One of the greatest Rock'N'Rollers ever.

@pedrof93
Ever? Ehh. That's a big statement.... especially for Reed.

*Not trying to be mean. It's just Reeds name doesn't come up a lot when I discuss greatest rockers ever.

dillhole3852d ago

Whose name does come up?

lol, so a video game console commercial is a tribute to Lou Reed... C'mon now guys. I doubt they're gonna show this commercial at his memorial.

SecondSon3852d ago

For us gamers that liked his music it is a tribute :/

SilentNegotiator3852d ago

I have to agree. Just because he died, doesn't mean that anything featuring his work is a "tribute" to his career now. Especially a TV commercial that just happened to be featuring his music when he passed.

Jovanian 3852d ago

I've been listening to a ton of velvet underground lately...very unfortunate and coincidental that lou's passing coincided with my spontaneous desire to listen to his music. It's gonna be tough listening to sunday morning again

Savantcore3852d ago

Haha is this a joke? I enjoyed this advert as much as the next person but come on, this is a tenuous and shoddy coincidence.

Savantcore3852d ago

No I didn't. The author is trying to suggest that Lou Reed dying offers this advert some sort of poignancy, when it's just a cheap attempt at touting an old man's death as some massive benefactor to PlayStation's marketing team.

You know what's going on at Sony right now?

"Hey, you hear Lou Reed died?"
"No way! Didn't we use his music for that ad?"
"Yeah we did"
"Huh"

The end.

Ghost Of Tsushima's PSN May Be Online-Only, But People Still Can't Play It

Sucker Punch’s massive samurai adventure Ghost of Tsushima has come under fire because of the PSN requirement. However, unlike Helldivers 2, things are a lot different and more logical this time.

thorstein13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

"Sony has made it clear long before its release that the PSN requirement is strictly for the online multi-player Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima and the PlayStation overlay. Online connection or PSN is not applied to the single-player campaign, which is honestly what the game is all about."

Extermin8or3_4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Legends clearly was based around using the pan they hardly want to have to design a whole new account structure just to play it, that's alot of effort and work. Ultimately people kicked up a fuss despite there being workarounds in most of those territories that people with a ps console have used over there for literally like 15/16 years. This is the consequence of that, be careful what you wish for or demand because you don't necessarily get to pick the method by which you get it.

melmacj2h ago

This game is not Helldivers 2. Every game doesn’t need to be Call of Duty. I may or may not play one minute of the online component. I’m buying it solely for the story/campaign. Sony needs to integrate it better but Microsoft does the same with Xbox live account. It’s an ecosystem they will always want to tie into the console audience and frankly don’t know why this is such a big deal.

Seafort4m ago(Edited 4m ago)

It is because the PC isn't a console and shouldn't be tied to the same restrictions the console gamers are. If Sony wants PC gamers to buy their games they will need to learn what I and many others will accept.

Trying to harvest our personal details for any of their games on PC will not fly.

cthulhucultist14m ago

cant wait to play this masterpiece!

neutralgamer199211m ago

I want to play it for single player and if I want to try legends I am willing to log into my PSN account. What’s the big deal anyway? If I want to play a rockstar game from steam I still have to have a different launcher and account other that launcher and same goes for UBI. On PC we have so many store front anyway what’s another log in. BTW the way we the pc gamers reacted to HD2 will only mean Sony will make it clear before launch that their online is only available with PSN account
