Recently the GTA V map was leaked and coinpixels have got our hands on the leaked picture, please look away now if you do not want to see it.

It's nice to be right. Everybody was calling the fan made map crap when it was a hot story a few days ago and I got hate for it. Well, it was 100% spot on :)

Liberty City has smaller and tightly packed streets. Los Santos has less streets, but they are wide and it's more spacious. The two cities have the same area. I think this is why people doubt the size.

SA was the only GTA with more than one city, it had three cities Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas.

V was only meant to be set in Los Santos but a redesigned version and much bigger than SA's version of Los Santos.

i'm pretty sure one of the first GTA's had liberty city, vice city and san andreas all in one game but i might be wrong

@ Furesis : There wasn't any GTA with Liberty city , Vice City and San andreas. Those cities were all in their own game.

The very first GTA had Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. GTA 2 had Anywhere, USA as the city. Then later London 1969 was released. When it made the switch to 3D we didn't get multiple cities until San Andreas.

I think its just a re-imagining, just like how GTA4's Liberty City wasn't the same as GTA3's.

They have always been islands, it's for barrier reasons. They don't want you to see a road that goes to a place that you can't go it.

If there was a winter, they'd have showed it. Don't hype up the game too much like that, you'll only put it on a pedestal that's very hard to reach.

Yeah remember I think in red dead you couldnt even see snow on the map bug here the map is colourful so I was expecting a little bit of white powder somewhere-cmon its my favourite thing to be is in the snow

I plan on getting to the top of Mt. Chiliad and either just jumping off with no parachute just to laugh my ass off as I tumble down or drive off and see how long the vehicle can survive.

Edit: It looks like their are no roads to the top. Unless the map is only showing main roads and not dirt paths. Either way I'm getting to the top and as soon as possible. Going to be a lot of fun to bad had in this game.

I thought it looked very empty. I guess you can really tell what they're just from a map guy there's lots of area with no roads. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I get what you mean, not that it looks small by any means, just hard to get a sense of the scale of it all. And what with all the talk of it being bigger than the original San An, red dead and gta iv maps you expect something that looks huge. The proof is in the pudding though so this time next week I'm sure we'll all be saying "holy sh¥t, it's huge!"

I think you need to put things a little more in perspective. I thought the same thing until I realized that there are tiny little side streets in between the main roads. If you think of a car that is to scale driving on those side streets it really shows you how big the map is.

Also, don't forget the smaller towns that are north of Los Santos and the explorable sea areas.

Hard to lieve it , cause if you remember r* said that the map is five time big as gta iv's or as big as gta iv map , RDR and gta sa combined , so this map looks small to me (compared to what they said , not that i wont get lost there) ;)

I looked at a higher res version of this same image elsewhere and from where the scale cuts off the image to where the smaller of the 2 touching scales ends is slightly over 2,000 feet.

I think your nostalgia is getting away from you. Los Santos was the only one of the three cities in GTA:SA that actually felt like a city. San Fierro and Las Venturas were technically cities, but they were downright tiny.

R* could have done the same here I'm sure, but I'm betting that we'll get more fully formed versions of both those cities as DLC for GTA Online. I think I like it better this way.

I think what many of you guys fail to realize is that apart from the landscape of the game, there is still the entire sea around the land itself that qualifies as apart of the game. look at the HD image and add the entire ocean around the land itself.

This ocean is not going to be bland and have nothing. Remember, R* said the sea was going to have ALOT of sea creatures and depth. It ain't just all about the land.

It's just an island...again. And it certainly doesn't look bigger than the RDR, GTA IV and GTA SA maps put together to me, not even as big as GTA SA from the looks of it.

But the most worrying part is, it's just a small island again, lost in the middle of the ocean. The map in Just Cause 2 was an archipelago, but way larger than that, and it was a whole country! This is supposed to be LA! California!
