Well Xbox fans have been paying for mp anyway this entire gen without even having dedicated servers for most games. If the ps+ mp fee means dedicated servers, I'm completely down with that. It's Sony after all and I know they'll make sure we will get value for our money.

You are underestimating the power of Xbox Live and the loyal multiplayer gamers that want a good controller and a good online system. And that is two things that Sony CANNOT compete with MS on.

This gen isn't likely to play out a whole lot different than the last. If anything, Xbox may gain even more ground. They showed more good games in their conference today, unless you are still a fan of JRPGs, but MS has never had that category anyway.

The future is online multiplayer, and Sony still has tons of catching up to do to be competitive in that regard.

I knew that PS was going to kill it, I was a little nervous this morning because some of the exclusive titles were great. I am pissed about Killer Instinct being XBO exclusive, however I am not upset with their idea of the console in general.

So what I have to pay for online for PS? Look at the bargain you are getting:

a) Used games/trade games confirmed. We spoke and received what every f**king fan wanted which was a console that didn't dictate us, you can definitely see the sentiment on the dudes face when House said "True consumer ownership and true consumer trust is vital in everything we do."

b) My PS4 will be $100.00 cheaper than XBone. This means that again XBox just got owned by a console that is a better bargain for their buck. Not to mention that it's a more powerful console than XB anyway.

They can charge $399 because 80% of the PS4 users will purchase PS+ therefore making up that money somewhat.

How is that a good deal when I am paying for online for either console anyway? I basically look at it like I'm saving a hundred bucks getting the console in the first place. Who cares if PS gets some credits of online multiplayer, the fact is I knew something like this was coming anyway . . . it's a matter of time. The best part is, no change in the way a PS4 operates compared to the PS3, and I don't have to worry about jumping through hoops to get what I want . . . which is a gaming console that I can choose which games to get rid of, games to trade, games to play for free and games to just be a game. Xbox impresses me too. PS4 just does it in a way that I don't feel dirty just for playing it. There are things about Xbox that I like, but I definitely think that PS4 just won the console race, and if you think that what just happened at PS conference isn't valuable to gamers then I don't know what to say to you.

Yeah I do my subscription ends in 2014 but that's not the point really. I've never agreed with gamers having to pay to play online and I never will. Plus is great value but having to pay for a feature that you have paid for as it is part of the game on the disc is absolutely disgusting in my opinion. I will continue to be a Plus subscriber because of the many benefits it gives me, but I feel for the people who don't want or need the bonuses that Plus offers them but STILL have to pay the same amount as me just to play online. There is no need for Sony to charge for online other than for their own financial gain. It was free for 8 years on PS3 so why can't it continue to be that way?

Very good point, the price point of 399 is huge though, for the most part Sony's conference was a bit of a let down; they were blown away by MS, BUT that 399 price point will all but erase Microsoft's advantage.

of Things PS3 owners had 7yrs of free online gaming. I'm a Plus member only because of the games. Don't really mind paying to play since in a sense that's what I've been doing with the new games from Plus.
Plus no DRM and you can share games. You can even share games on your PS3 Digital and hard copy.

MS has to drop the check in feature now. I'm sure there has been pressure from devs and publishers, but that is no longer there. Time to drop it. And they can also drop down to the $399 price point. Even with Kinect, One should still be cheaper to make than PS4. GDDR5 alone adds a ton of cost.

Don't forget you need a plus account to play online now (much like xbox live), unlike before.

I suppose it was one of the (I don't want to say inevitable) trade-offs owing to used game support and absence of drm and always online policies. Still, I can't really complain, I'm not much of an online gamer anyhow. I just wonder if that'll be applied to the ps3 too? Will I have to pay to play my Ps3 and Vita games on my ps3 and Vita in the future?

I know it's a paltry subscription fee, but ugh, standing orders are so irritating. Ah, whatever, as soon as I'm finished my MA i'll job hunt.

Wow, as a now FORMER xbox loyalist since the 1st xbox, (never bought a ps2 or 3) sony managed to change my mind and seal the deal with $399.

You get more for the money, more power, more FREEDOM, all for $100 less... I do believe anyone that goes into a store with both on the shelf and asks an employee "what's the difference besides price?" and the employee says "one lets you play your games whenever you want and lets you do with them whatever you want, the other doesn't."...It will be a no brainer and an easy sale for the employee...

Sony has one the hard core gamers mindshare. that is all no consoles have been sold yet. I have to hand it to sony the price of 399 is awesome. going to get PS4 eventually, but all of my friends already put money down on Xbox one today. we forget that COD and battelfield have timed exclusivity on Xbox one. That is pretty huge. I agree that Sony won E3 however can't count out the casuals.

People can jump for joy that Sony is not limiting, but, I doubt publishers will let GameStop continue to exclude them from the used market...

I have a feeling, EA and others are gonna have a very nasty surprise for PS owners when they open their copy of BF4 or whatever.

Good for sony not to include any form of DRM, but at the same time they are still in trouble, because now, Publishers can implement their OWN DRM into the games, Origin, comes to mind.

Publishers are no officially free to screw you in whatever way. That sucks.

At least with Xbox One there is a guideline, but the fact is on the PS4 the publisher has the freedom to put whatever they want.

I plead to you with every ounce of will in my being that you MUST retract your claims and policies regarding DRM, Always Online, and Used Games before it is too late. I feared if Sony went MS route out of pure pride I would have ditched console gaming. I can't be a party to such a practice only because I cannot logically comprehend it.

I happy Sony has taken everything they've learned from the PS3 and tried their best to fix it. Most importantly Sony showed me they are a game company first and will listen to the fan base and criticism.

I just want great gaming experiences with little restrictions on how I own my property.

So if a game developer is trying to decide which console to make a game on why wouldnt they pick the one that forces consumers to pay a few extra bucks for a used copy? It's only a matter of time until all major developers start making exclusives for XB1 in order to maximize on their profits. MS has already talked about all of the new deals and exclusives IP's coming soon which to me only confirms this theory.

"a few bucks?" They want to rip you off and you think the best thing to do is to defend them? MS is working hard to limit your rights of ownership to games you paid for with your hard earned money! (forget the privacy rights, thats another matter). Besides, for a company that's going to have all these exclusives you speak about, they sure didn't have much to show.

PS: as it stands, it seems that EA and Activision switched partnerships, this time EA is with MS and Activision is with Sony, Also Ubisoft is in a partnership with Sony so if anything Sony has 2 of the 3 big publisher and MS has one. Just so you know.

Since multiplayer games have long lasting appeal, they're purchased anyway. This is why MS forcing DRM on console and always online sucks. It removes the ability to rent 1p 8 hr games.

Used games? My games on my Ps4 and Xbox One will all be new at release. I live in the citycentre and have 100% Connection, so online won't be a Problem... *laugh*
