the wii u isnt doing well at all. the older ps3 sold more than twice the amount of the wii u. i wonder how much the sales will drop this month, next month and the subsequent months till proper games are out

Godchild10204118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

The Vita isn't doing so well either. Its selling less than the PSP, but not as badly as the Wii U is compared to last gen consoles. But the Vita is selling really bad compared to the cheaper 3DS.

I ask myself this question all the time, would the 3DS really have this great lead if Nintendo didn't drop the price of the system or if Sony dropped the price of the Vita to match the 3DS?

black9114118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

The Vita and Wii U sales are just forecasting the future gaming. Sales for both the PS4 and 720 will disappoint aswell once released. Gaming is dying.

izumo_lee4118d ago

Even if the 3DS was the same price as the Vita or if the Vita had a price cut, i still think cause of the juggernaut that are Nintendo 1st party games the 3DS would still be a better seller.

However the Vita would not be in the situation it is at now barely keeping up with its younger brother the PSP. The difference in sales between the Vita & 3DS would be a lot closer than it is now though.

For me i love the Vita & i use it all the time. For all the naysayers out there, the Vita has yet received its price cut so i am gonna hold out about its future until that happens.

What does the Vita have to do with her comment. Stop comparing the vita to the WiiU. One is a handheld and the other is a console.

Now to answer your question. Of course, they got the lead because of the price. Nobody would be buying it at $250. If sony does drop the price of the vita at $180 and advertise it well. Then they should be able to find the same success as the psp.

@black

Its time for you to find a new hobby then?? seems that you take the wiiu poor sales to heart.

If gaming is dying why on earth its on almost every single electronic device these days?

The only thing I dont see gaming on is a calculator or camera. Smart watch might have some silly games soon and smart tv will stream games from onlive or gaikai.

Wiiu is only hurting because the core is interested in third party and first party games that the wiiu dont have right now and wiiu don't have the casual crowd because they are buying xbox.

Godchild10204118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

The Vita has some relationship to her comment, because its another console that a lot of people thought would have sold better at this point. Also I didn't compare the Wii U to the Vita in the way you are thinking. I said the Wii U is selling badly compared to last gen consoles, not the Vita. Also if the comparison that can be made ia the ratio of what the Vita sold compared to last gen and the ratio to.how the Wii U sold compared to last gen.

Anyway, Thanks for your input to my question.

Realplaya4118d ago

@ mika people don't buy a Mercedes because it's cheap they buy them because they typically know there getting great quality. Am I saying the vita is bad quality nope but it just doesn't have much appeal.

YEA XBOX! AMERICA>WORLD....... oh wait.....

Army_of_Darkness4118d ago

Do I really have to tell you which handheld would end up dominating???

muttley654118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

@ black911

gaming is dying as you say becuz: this generation Developers afraid to go out side the box from FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS (safety net) while gamers sick an tired of those games and soon might stop buying video game.

room4144118d ago

If gaming is dying why are the ps3 and 360 still selling reasonably well for old consoles? And why is pc gaming growing?

Gaming isn't dying. The wii u is just tanking.

wii-u its practically dead, we are waiting on ps4 and 720 to finally placed the wiiu in RIP momentum. Unpleasant as it looks, I hope big N does a rear check and stop production of wii-u and go all out with new platform bc with wii and wiiu, but the chances of that happening are about the same with hiring harashima.
RIP wIIU, at least I was able to play zombie on it. Ugh let me run before someone curse me out.

smashcrashbash4118d ago

@ black911.No it's not.Where did you get that from? People are waiting to see what the PS4 and next Xbox offer before they invest in anything. If the Wii U can't deliver the PS4 and Next Xbox will pick up the slack. That is just how competition works.

WeAreLegion4118d ago

Agreed. If anything, the PS4 and 720 will reinvigorate the industry! It didn't help that 2012's lineup wasn't as large as 2011's. :/ This year is going to be BIG though. The Last of Us, Gears of War: Judgement, Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension, Pokemon X and Y, and possibly the release of the PS4 and 720?!? Count me in!

clrlite4118d ago (Edited 4118d ago )

Sales data pretty much renders his comment null anyway. The video game business did very well even though the slow economy. Also, there are video game machines still breaking sales records, etc. etc. Actually it is such a lucrative industry that it has attracted myriad jackass "businessmen" that don't care about innovation for quality and churn out rehashes as often as possible. I would like to see a day when gamers run the industry.

Tewi-Inaba4118d ago

Animal Crossing was a real juggernaut for beating those games dispite being out only in japan

Realplaya4118d ago

Why does everyone think a price cut will help the vita. To be honest it's all about the beautiful graphics and all this and that. It's def not the price. If so why would we buy big arse tv's and fancy cars. It's about the games the 3ds is just a system that's a lot funner. The vita is a pretty girl that's stuck on herself and she is a party pooper. The 3ds is the girl next door but she ca drink with the fellas and loves sports.

classic2004118d ago

Price cut is the main thing, there is no going around that with your funner illusion.

Also 3ds being a drinker is crazy, the console got kiddie written all over it lol. VITA is a grown up machine.

smashcrashbash4118d ago

What the heck are you talking about? People still love pretty girls even when they are stuck on themselves and guys hate girls who are tom boys who think they can hang with the fellas. What dimension do you live in? And funner is not a word. It's more fun. BTW a price cut will help. Normal people who don't know any better buy the 3DS because it is cheaper. They don't really care as much as us what games are for it.They only see price. If the VITA was cheaper then the 3DS more people would buy it. It's just like the 360 and the PS3. The PS3 offered more but people ran to the 360 and because it was cheaper and they could hack it for cheap games.

I think it has more to do with marketing. The masses will buy pretty much anything, if there is a proper buzz created for it, and the Vita is(believe it or not) highly marketable. Although I definitely welcome more Vita games :]

Picture_Dancer4118d ago

Hmmm, let's see how about the games:
http://www.gamerankings.com...
Vita: 14 games with score above 80%

3DS: 14 games with score above 80%

Vita more or lass hes the same number of quality games.

If you ask me ps3 should be the lead platform for call of duty, then it can be ported to the 360.

superterabyte4117d ago (Edited 4117d ago )

If you ask me the bin should be the lead platform for most of the call of duty titles.

Wolfenstein: The New Order Is The Last Of Its Kind

It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.

Wolfenstein: The New Order - A Highly Rated FPS That Hasn't Stood the Test of Time

Wolfenstein: The New Order launched 10 years ago today, but can it stand up to the modern FPS titles it inspired?

Seth_hun1d 9h ago

I disagree. Its still a fantastic game, with very good gunplay and a surprisingly loveable cast of characters and a good story trough many different and interesting setpieces

hiawa231d 5h ago (Edited 1d 5h ago )

All The New Order needs for my tastes is a this gen enhancement patch.

ChasterMies1d 5h ago

I played New Order a couple of years after launch and I give it an 8/10. The shooter holds up because it is focused on being a good shooter. There is no crafting, no RPG elements, no open world find the question mark Weapons are fun. Enemies are fun. Levels offer a nice mix of stealth and shooting. You get to be the predator; this isn’t a game about fending off waves of enemies while a robot companion unlocks a door. Most importantly, New Order is the last of a dying breed of single player shooters.

Skuletor1d 3h ago

Singleplayer shooters are still getting released every year, just look up "boomer shooters" and you'll find an an abundance of them. AAA fps campaigns, not so much.

Last year had Trepang2, RoboCop: Rogue City, Turbo Overkill, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Dread Templar, Sprawl and more

DustMan23h ago

The games you mentioned are not from AAA developers. Wolfenstein likely had a budget that was probably as big as all those games you mentioned combined. I'm not knocking the new wave of retro shooters. I absolutely love them (I think some get much higher review scores than they deserve though). I just really wouldn't describe Wolfenstein as purely a boomer shooter based on the relatively cohesive story, with cut scenes and is fully voice acted. Full set piece moments.

AA development seems to be focused keeping the single player solo experience alive. But the big developers are only concerned about the MTX and milking players who enjoy multiplayer.

ChasterMies15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

The age of AA shooters. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I like less expense, shorter games.

Abear211d 4h ago

Weird all the Wolfenstein articles.

Can you guess what will be announced at Xbox showcase?

DefenderOfDoom21d 4h ago

What Machine Games did with Wolfenstein franchise is awesome. The game play definitely to me , is still very fun to play !!!
