i completely agree.
Ps4 neo and Xbox Scorpio are direct admissions that after 8 years of gen7, the gen8s are underpowered - especially in the wake of the emerging vr market. The gen8 consoles should have been able to at least handle 4K streaming and 1080p/60 game rendering consistently, even if you removed demanding vr specs from the equation.
well.. to be fair, they can probably crank up the effects/aliasing/lighting etc too. all things pc gamers can do.
Seems like PC games have been able to handle the variable power of different machines (not to be confused with sometimes sh**y ports that were built for consoles first) I don't see how it could be harder on consoles. If anything it should be easier because your hardware set to 2-3 machines tops. You can optimize specifically for that hardware rather than having to deal with 200 different pieces of hardware. no because i love the utility and convenience of a console. I respect pc gaming but its too much for me and I'm comfortable with myself so i don't need to prove anything to anyone or the have the desire to constantly upgrade my rig. these days i'm a no fuss kind of guy.

i disagree. I think people are looking at this in a way that suggest this is an expedited schedule for a routine upgrade model. I don't think thats the case. Now xBox will have levels on hardware much like buying a car. Not everyone buying a BMW 3 series wants an M3. reminds me of when everyone was talking sh** about forza because it didn't look like drive club... and i kept trying to explain to people that sims require more horsepower than arcade racers because they have to actually.... sim physics, not just look cool. so... seems gt follows that. is it as pretty as drive club? nope. is it still good looking? yup. and also.. its a sim. so there you have it.

I'm ok with it. I wish console cycles were shorter as is considering the tech moves so fast. Console hw is usually fairly outdated 2 years after launch.
