Yet, even though microsoft only have 13 countries to concentrate their efforts on

and

Even though the PS4 is regularly out of stock in most of those 13 countries

and

even though the xbox one is almost always readily available...

The ps4 consistently outsells the xbox one in each of them.

Why compare the xbox ones sales to past generations? Did it matter how the original xbox sold in compariso...

"Do you have any clue about software development?"

Forget about just software development.

@maxwellbuddha
Do you have the slightest clue about how the real world operates?

Perhaps, one day when you have, hopefully, grown up and began fending for yourself, you might just reflect on that comment and realise how stupid and naive you once were and then thank god that you made that comment anonymously.

Doesn't the glasses you need depend on the tv you have?

I have an active shutter 3d tv but is ps3 not compatible with passive too?

Does ps3 not frame pack its 3d images,therefore rendering 2 images at a time? Then its up to your tv to decode the 3d signal depending on how your tv displays 3d?

Isn't it a case of 3d games on ps3 are capped at 720p and theres a downgrade in audio because ps3 can't do hdmi 1...

"not arguing the lead just the margin"

No you weren't

"if they weren't out selling them it would be a big problem"

Edit
@below
My point is that you didn't mention anything about the margin, all you said was "weren't outselling", no mention of margin there.

Even discounting the 44 markets that microsoft are not currently competing in, the PS4 is still outselling th...

You do realise that your argument only helps to reinforce DoesUs's statement, don't you?

Even though microsoft are concentrating their efforts on only 13 markets, the PS4 still consistantly outsells the xbox one in each of them.

Are those prices USD?

If so, why are the prices for 'new' starting at $513,99?

I don't think a console manufacturer in such a highly competitive market would employ such a tactic as I don't see how the benefits outweigh the negatives.

There are only so many consoles they are capable of producing and the sales figures suggest they are doing phenomenally well producing as many as they are.

3714d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

I suppose that's what Nintendo were doing with the Wii back in 06 and 07 too?

Don't the shipped/sales figures suggest otherwise?

I don't think their shareholders will be too happy with that tactic, if indeed it is a legitimate tactic. Sounds like a myth to me because I can't see how it makes business sense, who benefits? and why?

@corvusmd

Psychological projection. I think that's your diagnosis.

Otherwise...

Why didn't you put your single bubble to good use and post proof of your argument?

Should, surely, be easy enough to find proof, if any of what you said is true.

@ midnighter20...

For that, rather ridiculous statement to be true, microsoft would have to be manufacturing double the amount of consoles that sony is.

Now, either show some proof that ms are managing to achieve this or just stop!

I went to see a bullfight in Malaga years ago, it was horrible. I don't know how they can call it a fight, it's not a fight, it's a slaughter.

These power consumptions are really nothing for anybody to get their knickers in a twist about.

@G20WLY
Even if both systems spent 100% of the year in standby mode the difference to your annual electricity bill would be about £11 (or less than 20 USD).

Even if Sony and MS managed to half the power consumption of each console you would be looking at saving about £20 per year.

The consoles at present will consume less electric...

"Forza has taken gt's crown these days"

Certainly not according to this review:

"The result is transformative, bringing GT5’s already exceptional handling alive in a way that makes revisiting old favourites, whether it’s the Integrale, NSX or Skyline, a consistent pleasure, while making every other car game – Forza 5 included – feel flat in comparison."

Did you have the first one? If so, how does it compare? Whats different? Other than the songs.

Microsoft have stated over the years that the japanese market was/is important to them.

It is wrong to say "it is a region they barely compete in".

Microsoft have spent alot of time and money trying to crack Japan.

The correct term would be - it is a region they have failed to compete in- and that does not justify discounting Japan when comparing worldwide sales figures.

I bought the first one, it's an excellent and fun way to help learn guitar.

"That is actually incorrect, if you take out Japan, MS is ahead."

Why take out Japan?

As far as the rest of your statement goes, every console manufacturer has learned at one point or another that success in one generation does not guarantee success in the next.

Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Sony - They have all been humbled at some stage.

Perhaps this generation is Microsofts turn, even though the 360 was not as success...

I suspect it never will be, it'll be forgotten about like most of sonys peripherals.

The PS2 was at less than 120 million at the time the PS3 released.

Even discounting the wii altogether, the last gen has still been the most successful to date.

In your defence though, I think the last gen had more multi-console owners than any before it.
