The crazy thing I do not understand is why MS chose to shoot so low with their ESRAM and potential 204GB/s.

It will take the developers a few years to get to master and optimise the XB1 to where the PS4 is TODAY. By that time PS4 will have even more developed and optimised coding. The PS4 has too much raw power.

Now back when Mark Cerny was deciding options for PS4 he considered a similar option that MS have taken. He discussed the issue saying it would be h...

Good job the games in the PS4 can be cached so they are deleted and re-cached for a different game.

Biggest issue for me is Sata II. They included USB 3.0 so should of gone with Sata III (6Gbps). All older disks would work fine but also newer ones too with potential for blinding SSDs when prices drop over the coming years.

For me I will go for 1TB 7200 rpm or a 1TB Hybrid 5400 with 64MB cache. In the PS3 the 7200 was faster and seemed quieter. The 64MB cache ...

Gotta agree with Nick_515 about MW. I played MW2 and the single player was the most confusing story-less game I have ever completed. It was a mesh of multi-player maps threaded together.

I prefer a great single-player game with the best environments then used for multi-player..

Here's my truth:
=================

With BF4, COD and other games showing more grunt for the PS4 - all multi-platform games will have to follow suit in the short term.

We know PS4 has more raw power and is easier to develop for. We suspect it may always have more power than XB1 due to its GPU and unified GDDR5 - time will tell.

If games such as Destiny try to enforce parity they will be called out and lose sales on the PS4 because ...

Good to see the basic options of the UI. The snapping between games and apps and TV, when it works at launch, look very fast.

Having 3 Operating Systems and multi-tasking will hit the CPU and GPU so it is a trade off. The price to pay for this snapping functionality is less graphics grunt than PS4 but if you want to have all your TV, gaming and internet on one box then the XB1 is a perfect fit.

Just heading over to google to look for "mea culpa".

Who said gaming is not educational!!!

Any true gamer on this site hopes you are right. We are all paying enough for our next gen experiences - we all deserve 100% enjoyment and 0% hardware failure.

Well said!

Sony had the most brilliant exclusives last gen. Sony has by far the most powerful console this next gen. Sony is way cheaper this next gen. Sony have gone for the gamers and consulted developers way more this next gen.

But this does not make Sony the best. If you enjoy MS exclusives and only want 1 new console then XB1 is the best for you.

Never crave the forbidden XBOX bubbles...

After all the previous rumours that have hurt XB1 I would not say BS. Yes, it may need further proof or more sources. But just look at the rumours that have come true that people called BS...

We will all have to keep an open mind about these things until both releases. And then the real rumours will start about hardware failures, etc.

PS3 is pulling away from the 360 now globally. The difference will be 5-10 million by systems end. Not bad for an over-priced late console that had to compete with a massively always price-cut system.

Gotta say BF4 looks amazing. Shame if the SP is only 4-5 hours. It has intensity and great environments. Kudos to DICE. They sure are one of the better developers around today.

Onto the PS4/XB1 comparison..

Whilst they both look great compared to PS3/360 the PS4 really stands out. I've watched both "Fishing in Baku" SP videos twice now and the PS4 version is simply stunning. The XB1 version does not handle shadows well at all. It looks much dark...

No big deal. As a developer of a console you know what hardware you can develop for and you max the heck out of it.

Rather than trying to outdo PS4 - which seems unlikely for any game this next gen - Microsoft and said developers need to create the best XB1 experience possible.

We all win then.

I was surprised this article was actually a frank and interesting read. Not the usual biased rubbish you expect.

The biggest issue is Microsoft trying to con us all over graphics parity the past 2 months rather than showing us the great things the XB1 actually has to offer. It has bought attention to the real differences in hardware.

Good read...

Cannot see this happening. It goes against their DRM stance. You get a group of people - maybe 30 or 40 and they just swap games all the time. 1 person buys a new game they then take it in turns gifting it.

It would hurt game sales much more that current physical trading. Digital gifting can be more widespread due to instant retrieval.

There would have to be limits to the number of times a specific game can be gifted. But if by some amazing chance this goes ...

DVDs can be upscaled by BluRay players. Decent DVDs even look the better for it. So if I already owned the DVD I would not buy the BluRay version right away.

But for new films I would buy the BluRay version because the films look stunning in a way even upscaled DVDs can't.

I agree with you in a way regarding the bubble system. As long as you are respectful of other peoples differing views it should be fine.

Last time PS3 got hammered for ...
