nVidia declined the offer. The margins are too low.
They have been near flawless in terms of marketing, and ease of use/ dev friendly hardware, but I would've liked more horsepower. The other console generations had hardware that was incredible for the time, worth much more than the price of the console.
No AMD CPU and 7870 is the PS4.
You can install windows on it, and the R9 270 in this machine is much better than the 7870/7850 equivalents in the PS4/X1.
The R9 270 is a card surpasses both of the consoles' GPUs handily
PS4- 1.84 TF
X1-1.3 TF
R9 270- 2.4 TF
Optimization is not a large factor in the console of this generation because they are using x86 architecture. There is no convoluted custom hardware developers will have to code for. I wouldn't expect much increase in visual fidelity in the lifetime of both consoles.

Although I agree with your point, I dont think the new consoles will have nearly as much of a difference due to how easy it is to get power out of the architecture(which is a good thing). These consoles will reach the peak of their potential very quickly (3 years max imo). That means we'll get good looking games very quickly.
Yes, it is confirmed to be 720P, but I do not think that this is representative of the consoles' potential. If you recall to the start of this generation, the pinnacle of console graphics was Resistance.
@iGAM3R
Forza 4's physics model is a good deal worse than GT'S. Also offroad racing, and weather are integral to racing simulators as they test the driver'a ability to adapt to adverse conditions. Real world drivers need to consider the possibilties. The day and night cycles, and weather give GT5 a significant lead in the simulation department even if you are ignorant of the superior physics model. The better game is, however, F5 with it's superior online integratio...
@Dj7
Yes the Ps3 did come w/ HDMI on day one.
EDIT: I assume you mean port. It did not come with a cable.
The first thing on this list should be Planescape Torment. A revolution in story telling, and a masterpiece.
I don't think of PS All Stars being a rip-off, I think of it being a new game in the same genre.
Currently the only game in that genre is SSBB.
Nobody calls ripoffs on every fps game because of Wolfenstien 3D.
the L3/R3 and L2/R2 can made up for by using the touchpad on the back with gestures.
Passive 3D uses glasses also. It's the one you see at theatres. The difference is Passive 3D glasses are much cheaper, but the quality is much worse.
PS All Stars Battle Royale (PSASBR) is not as much of a rip off as it seems to be.
SSBB is the only game in its genre, and Sony is making another game in the same genre. Calling PSASBR a rip off of SSBB is the same as calling every FPS a rip-off of Wolfenstien 3D.
It was the only truly "Next gen" console from the moment of its inception, I agree.
When the RSX spec were first announced nVidia was asked when they would out do themselves, they replied (paraphrased),"around the release of the Ps3" ala 8800gtx.
@big-bertha
your comments are the stupidest I've ever read in a while. Please stop trying
The best possible PC will never be surpassed by a console.
And "blur" effect.... really??
Yeah ive put over sixty hours into Dark Souls also, but there is no way anyone can beat Dark Souls on his or his or her first try in eight hours. If you've played Demon's Souls then you might be able to beat in in around 25 hours.
You can build a PC that will blow the PS4 out of the water for way less than 3k.
