I am no developer, My duties lie in the concept art design and Story boarding dept. But I have seen and played with these development kits. As for the new-er versions you speak of, we haven't received any news or info in our development kits Microsoft provided us with. Plus We don't develop a hole lot for the 360 platform so I doubt we will ever get to see one in our studios.
Thats not a 360 dev kit. I can re assure you that it is only what it is, an Xbox 360 console. Nothing more and nothing less.
The 360 dev kits are taller and have a black front face plate and have a green square logo on top. The rest is all white. That is NOT a 360 dev kit.
Its a great thing that they are doing this. I played the demo and all but the non voice dialogue is Japanese. English is only the voice overs and such, which is the main part of the story. The rest is descriptive text that appears on screen as you play (E.g. Resident Evil style). Download the demo off the JPN PSN Store. A very solid demo from start to finish and fun.

That's what I was about to mention, but these gamers are only in it for the fun factor. The vast majority of the players didn't submit any reports in the beta phase. It's a beta it will have issues and network problems. That's why user feedback and reports are critical to fix these issues. If you didn't submit a report or feedback then you know who to point the finger and blame for not doing so.
Thats why not a lot of love is given to other games.
Especially when we are 3 days away from Christmas in June.

If you played BF series you'd know more about its direction with online play. It's only one level for online play. When the game is released those search options you so desire will be available to you. I haven't had any connection issues on the PS3 ver. compared to the 360 ver.

I normally don't like to compare any shooters now since CoD4 left an imprint on gamers to compare to. But I'll give you some insight.
The story seems to be more flushed out then previous BF series. From the sourcing and scrips I read the story sounds great, well that's to me. I like a well thought out story and game play. It sounds good but I don't know how repetitive it will get with the huge environments that it will bring. Think about the CoD4 online maps are, now picture that...
I was in the Beta Testing for 360 and I got early demo access for the PS3. By far it is very fun and the environment destruction details are well done.
Regardless of its graphic presentation the game play make a lot up for it. It is very fun online as well since you have to watch yourself really carefully or a stray, tank or sniper can take you out with out noticing.
This is the single player level that you play in the demo.
@PistolPumptMonk: You bring a valid point for the the ones who reserved, but thats in the US only. So people who reserved got the DVD as a gift for reserving. Also a beta voucher as a bonus. As far as business practices go Konami nor Sony ever guaranteed you anything to begin with.

Here is 2 probable reasons why it might not come back up for world wide use.
1. The Konami system ID and PSN ID conflict presented issues outside Japan. Konami's ID program was well established and incorporated in Japan already. Sony needs to work closely with Konami to incorporate and help them with other regions.

I believe they could and could benefit Sony in the long run. Having such an extensive line for PS2 titles is a plus. A plus to the gamer is having that option to play those title missed that are now affordable at a cheaper price tag then the release retail rate.
It is easy for them to remove it. Look at all the boot methods used on previous consoles. Sony can implement a boot option in the OS. As well have that option for the user to enable or disable.
