Those videos you linked looked great, but it seemed like there was a lot of lag or frame rate drops or something. Is that just due to crappy video quality, or is the framerate really that bad in MP? It's just a little disconcerting, since that was a major flaw with the original Killzone.
However, as an owner of both consoles, and a gamer who was really looking forward to L4D, I thought the demo was quite disappointing. Now, I'm not sure if its an early build or whatever, so maybe the issues I have with it are already a thing of the past. But, like it or not, the blogger's points are valid. I've played the demo three times, single player, online co-op, and offline co-op. The AI director had very little impact on gameplay, the character models have no volume, and it just wasn't...
When Treyarch jacked IW's game engine AND exact multiplayer setup? Please.
Well, if you think increased firing rates on existing weapons or flame skins and astronaut suits are worth extra dough, it looks like EA has you covered.
Not about whether you care for Dead Space or not. Sure, Dead Space is an utterly fantastic game. Does that mean I want to shell out five bucks for pointless visual modifications to existing weapons and armor? Uh, nope. I'll pass. As should most discerning gamers.
I don't think you can necessarily call it "missing out" when PS3 owners may get access to something completely worthless a little later than X360 owners. It's like missing out on some junk mail.
Look, technical tidbits aside, the 360 version suffered from much more noticeable pop-in. AA and resolution don't mean a lot in a game like GTA IV which used a lot of dithering, which gave it a characteristic gritty look, and helped mask some of those shortcomings on the PS3 version. The rest comes down to color palette preference and rampant fanboyism.
By the way, I picked up the 360 version for DLC but my buddy left his PS3 version at my place, where we did our own unscientif...
What a deal?! I hope that was typed by fingers dripping with sarcasm. I just put a 320GB HDD in my PS3 for $110. That's about $0.35 a gig. MS, while normally raping consumers to the tune of $3.00 a gig for their propietary HDDs, has benevolently provided the option of purchasing a REFURBISHED 20 GB HDD for about $1.00/GB, still between 2 and 3 times as much as it should be.
I love my X360, but until they bring the price point of NEW HDDs into the more reasonable range of $0.50 ...
I completely agree about the expensive HDDs for the X360. It's time for MS to just make the decision to lose money on those things, because with the increased use of the HDD by many games, those with older Premium units are going to be left in the dust. No one in their right mind should pay more than a dollar a gig for an HDD.
The fact that it took multiple shots to take down the enemies had nothing AT ALL to do with hit detection. It was a design decision. Poor hit detection would be if you are aiming at a dude's head, pull the trigger, and nothing happens. The fact that when you shoot a guy in the arm he twists around, or pop him in the leg and he flops around, is evidence of really good hit detection.
Your real issue is with the developers' decision to make enemies take a lot of bullets before goi...
...although I definitely do not get that impression from your first post. Also, I think the real irony is that N4G is guilty of posting these types of stories MUCH more often than Kotaku. I have yet to see any N4G-focused backlash. I think that's probably because the individuals who post the articles are easy targets, as they are oftentimes obvious fanboys of the nth degree.
Yes, Crecente called out CAG when he probably shouldn't have. But that was just a kneejerk reaction. I t...
Holy god. It's an effing blog. It wasn't a review, or an advertisement. There were no subliminal messages encouraging feeble minded gamers to buy every copy of GTAIV at the closest Wal-Mart.
If gamers don't understand what a rumor is, what a blog is, or what freaking "shady business" actually entails, please keep your faux indignation to yourselves. There is absolutely nothing "shady" about posting an article on a rumor, and labeling it as such. Did Kotaku g...
You all do realize what site you're posting on, right?
As one who doesn't put any stock in any rumors, well, pretty much ever, the fact that a rumor on Kotaku turned out to be a joke doesn't bother me at all.
I go to Kotaku daily. It's a good read.
Long live my bubbles!!
He just stated something which I think most people would agree with: a limited access demo is pretty stupid. It's like a very scaled down beta, since we only get one track, no online play, and invite-only access.
If so, these are the only two places I've heard of them. Hopefully, like any racing game worth its salt this generation, PS3 owners will get the highly coveted "custom soundtrack" option. Racing games' STs are always awful.
$110 for a 160 GB HDD? Uh, I just bought a WD 320 GB HDD for that much on newegg. I would hope you could find a 160 for cheaper. These are the 2.5" SATA laptop drives, right?
Working hard to keep their system satisfactory? Okay, I'm an Xbox360 fan. I own one, and I love it, but extending warrantees and decreasing repair time is not keeping the system satisfactory.
Basically what MS is saying is, "Look, you bought a rushed system where 65% of the launch hardware didn't work off the assembly line, and 33% of the ones that did work happened to fail later. We've released smaller chipsets and quieter disc drives yadda yadda yadda, but that still ha...
Cost and DL size are going to be the make-or-break aspects of the added content. If each "episode" takes up 5 GBs and costs $10, I would have to pass. Like others have said below, there are other great games coming out at the end of this year that make GTA IV DLC a non-essential purchase, even for gamers that really liked the game, such as myself.
Ah, I was curious about the price of a game which looks to add very little to what is admittedly a very winning formula. $40 seems about right. I should probably finish Afternoon of Darkness on my PSP first... damn last boss...
Then what would be your GOTY? LBP sounds like the only true contender by that requirement.
I see what you're saying, but I think you are remiss in assuming that all sequels are devoid of innovation, plot, and what I consider most important: fun.
