Moving to a smaller process may make the die smaller, but dosnt necessarily mean the package size of the chip gets smaller.
You still need the same number of balls under the package, adjusting the pitch and making them smaller just opens a new can of worms, especially if its a lead free part. Tin wiskers :S (crystals that grow off of the solder that can short to other pins/balls)
Hmm, you could add an old chip on there and add a bunch of cost, or you can do it right and just write an emulator for the PS3.

Yes you can make a standard tv display 3D, but it cuts the frame rate in half.
The glasses have LCD shutters on them that alternate between open and closed. since standard tvs have a refresh rate of 60Hz it would be divided up between your two eyes resulting in 30Hz per eye.
It works but it will give you a head ache.
Another interesting feature you could do with a 120Hz Tv is 2 player full screen.

Guess its lazyness or something, but in xp/vista64 the system folders are as follows:
System - 16bit system files
System32 - 64bit system files
Wow64 - 32bit system files
why not just create a System64 folder?
Yeah, being that they are maxing out the memory and not the cpu/gpu it sounds like the game would likely max out the PS3 aswell considering they both have the same amount of memory...
