And the sharpness of EA's PR is why you shouldn't be paying for their games.
FFXIII still used the ATB system, but a different version of it. The point of it is in the name alone, considering it's an active system unlike waiting for either you or the enemy to take a turn.
@nitus10 Actually, that's incorrect. 4 - 9 was ATB, while 1 - 3 and 10 was Turn-Based only. There was no timer in the latter games, while the former could launch attacks at you even if you didn't.
Same thing with FFX-2, FFXII and the FFXIII games, which were ATB as well.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Not all of the blame is on publishers, considering bad coding and other aspects of development is a thing.
But then people will defend pubs / devs, saying that we're being way too critical. Honestly, i'm glad that i'm not so naive to think, that everything will be all right after a few patches.
No, just no. the damnation that is FFX-2 definitely soured the good from what FFX was. If you want the ATB system, you're welcome to play FFXIII.
FFX was actually more of an improvement to FFI-III, actually. It's a shame they messed that up with FFX-2, which in turn had the bastard child that is FFXIII, thanks to someone who became obsessed with Lightning.
As long as they don't mess it up with some sort of KH / FF crossover like FFXV is.
This is a more long term mod, but the game definitely needs something to cut down on the bullet sponge. It's the same problem Skyrim had eventually.
Cut it down to Stalker / Metro levels. Maybe even Ranger Hardcore mode.
Wired over Wireless any day, but then again, my PC is pretty close if playing with a controller should be a thing.
Most of the content in these games are purely padding. It usually comes with stretching content too thin as well, which is what the main game of Witcher 3 suffered from.
It's more important to crank the amount of hours up these days, instead of quality.
The bullet sponge is strong, but mods will change that as well.
Their models were changed with the re-release on Wii U, so Bayonetta wasn't that different. Same old change for change's sake, even though it's not necessary at all.
Vanquish is the only game that almost made me hurt my hand. Between the game on the hardest difficulty and challenge mode, the seemingly generic TPS game is made awesome because of the boosting as well.
I would love to see what could be done with a sequel, preferably on each platform.
I somewhat doubt Bethesda would develop a new engine, or use another one such as UE4 for the next game. I expected this as soon as they talked about a sequel, because they just can't let go of Gamebryo for some reason. Modders would have noticed either way, due to the obvious old code being used.
The game is obviously going to suffer for it, even with mods added to the game. It's a shame though, because i was proud of them finally making a 64-bit game.
It's Polygon after all, so the usual drivel that's coming from them. CD didn't save Lara at all, because the writer behind the games generally makes not one, but all the characters unlikable. She's pushing her own agenda in that regard, though, so it's understandable that it has dropped from its past iconic status.
It's a shame to see a character being destroyed so, but we live in the age of agendas.
It seems like Okami is winning, but i would like to see what he could do with a DMC 5.
Same reason i didn't back this project as well, because it seemed too good to be true. You have to be careful with a lot of the KS projects.
Inb4 the inventory management and such is changed, because of the controller needs. Depending on what they change about the game, this could definitely turn out terribly.
@Septic, if VR kicks off, they will not only be thirsty for power, but they'll be forced to ask for more to make it a playable experience.
