FFX is just a re-release with HD resolution and maybe better frame-rate but for FFVII to look better it'll need much more than just a bump in resolution and frame-rate... One of the flaws of pre-rendered backgrounds is that they have a fixed resolution and it doesn't matter how much you bump it it'll only look worse. On top of that, the way they drew those background was in proportion to the chibi 3D character models so if they update them to at least look like FFVIII PC they are...
If this is just the PS1 version then forget it. I know the PS1 version had the anime cut-scenes but the loadings were terrible. And I mean, really TERRIBLE.
I heard the jap version had fast loading while FFIV had terrible loading but the for the western realease of Final Fantasy Chronicles (or whatever it was called) it was the other way around. FFIV had fast loadings while Chrono Trigger had slow loadings.
R3 is actually 8.4, much lower than R2 even though it's miles away better. =/

man these guys are so slow. Why do japanese devs like to tease so much and then they do crap? They take years to make one game and then more years thinking about making the next one...
Man these games are the most epic grindfest I have ever played. You hear the music and watch that vid and you get motivated but then you start playing and you realize that these games are not worth your time (the first 2 I mean because the third one was kinda good). But DQVIII, that was a game. I want another DQ just like that one.
This is how a Dragon Quest game would have looked on HD consoles but they opted to make an MMO for the Wii.
Kingdom Hearts series has been financially successful but the games aren't that great... The story's a mess and the battle system is just button mashing.

FFX was the introduction to FF to some of my friends and they really loved it but I come from the generation that started with the Snes ones and then the PS1 games and I didn't really like FFX that much. The series is a bit convoluted like Metal Gear and it's kinda hard to understand sometimes because they use lots of real-life references and are constantly mentioning important people like: "Gandhi". And if you don't know much about history then you'll gonna find it overwhelming but keep watching, you'll get used to it and you're gonna love it. The series does have a main story (even though at first everything feels disjointed) and some character development too ...
I agree with that but I think that for games like FF the resolution is more important while for games like DMC frame-rate is crucial. Another thing is that 60 frames is the max a TV can output so going higher than that would be just a waste of resources.
and don't forget about the lower frame-rate and physics.

Let's be realistic, an 8 is a great score but in the video game industry where there are so many overrated games an 8 is a bad score.
