It's understandable. This is SC2, possibly the most anticipated 2010 game for RTS lovers.
It's been a while since we've seen this much excitement for a PC exclusive. So, it's actually good news that it's stirring up a storm worldwide.
And to think devs were worried about piracy on PC....
I'd be very happy if at least the initial development is exclusive to the PC. For once, I'd like to see a potential AAA game not being held back by consoles. Bring back AAA PC exclusives.
If the article is really to be believed, then it's very very bad news for Nvidia loyalists. Slightly better than the 5870 is not acceptable at all, considering all those delays. 5% is almost non-existent. That Heaven benchmark is void if actual in-game tests all show measly results.
If the article is 'accurate' in it's reports, it's game over for Nvidia. Too bad, I was hoping to see huge performance boosts from Fermi so that ATi can mega-slash it's prices again. Rats.
Wanna know what the saddest part about this is? When the PC sales fail to meet their expectations, they'll be crying "Piracy". Yeah sure, Ubi. Blame piracy for all your failures. Most devs do anyway.
The word 'Piracy' is now like a safety net for their PR, when they make a crappy port for the PC that people refuse to buy.
THAT is Assassin's Creed 2 on max details? Seriously? Good job, Ubi, following IW's footsteps on "how to port games to PC, and then pretend you've been working hard on it."
It's simple, really. They saw IW bringing a piss-poor MW2 port to the PC without little to no extra effort while making a lot of profit off it. So, they're trying to do the same with this game.
Quite a misleading title. I was hoping for some unique weapons or maybe an exclusive gametype for the PC version. I didn't know an interview with the developer is considered an "exclusive stuff for PC version".
Pretty solid review. I'd give it the same as well. The game is returning to it's original roots, which is a good sign. It is worth every point it gets.
Many reviewers look at the slightly-dated visuals and go, "Oh, no shiny graphics? Automatically less than 8/10." I bet most of them didn't even bother getting halfway through the game.
I'm sorry to say but it won't work on consoles, at least not for the current gen. They'd have to get rid of the sandbox type gameplay, tone down the environmental details, make it more action-packed with linear scripted events, etc. And VOILA! You're left with a MW2 clone.
There was a time when I actually preferred Marvel characters over DC. But now I'm tired of all these anti-hero agenda they seem to have. I miss the old days where superheroes were just heores. Realistic/gritty takes are good every once in a while, but these guys are called 'superheroes' for a reason, and not just because they're boy-scouts.
If hackers do manage to swarm this game, I bet most of them would be MW2 noobs who don't have the slightest clue what 'tactical squad play' means.
I know what you mean. I like Marvel a lot too. But I think DC characters define the word "superheroes' much better. DC characters have that angelic feel to them. They're more like 'high up in the sky', whereas Marvel characters are more 'down to earth' type.
I think this series is very under-rated and under-appreciated. It's much better than most reviewers are willing to give it. Sure it has bugs, but the rest of the rich gameplay features make up for it.
And also, let's keep in mind that this is done by a small indie developer, probably with limited budget. And since it's a PC exclusive and not as popular as many multiplat games, there might not be big profits for them.
I admire GSC for sticking with the PC through ...
Strange indeed. Anyway, I wonder how big the gameworld is gonna be. Will it be exactly the same on both PC and PS3? How are the hero classes categorized? I wish they gave out more details about this game.
Yeah, but look how well that turned out for them. I mean, only PC exclusives and still their games sell better than most multiplats. Proves that although graphics is important, it's not the top priority for a successful game.
If it's gonna come out exclusive, then keep it exclusive to the 360 even afterwards. Afterthoughts and sh**ty ports after 6 months of the original releases are not welcome. Ubisoft found that out with Assassin's Creed. Now, they're gonna be reminded with Assassin's Creed 2(delay + poor port + DRM + higher price).
The delay I can bear, but this DRM? Never. And you say it's more expensive than console versions? Ubi have lost their minds. Well, I guess that's another $50 saved for me.
Oh, and the DX9 only visuals is another big 'no no'.
A reviewer is just another gamer, like any gaming enthusiast. Sure, he may have a bit more experience in the world of gaming, but that doesn't make him the ultimate authority over your opinion on the game.
What you like and/or don't like is eventually decided by you and you alone. So, the best way to do that about this game is to get your hands on the demo/beta.
Yeah, it was posted before. How did any of the approvers miss that?
Hmmm....a 40% performance drop on using Tessallation and advanced shadows? So far, I have yet to see the highly anticipated "performance boost" from using DX11. Makes me wonder if upgrading now to a DX11 enabled card is worth the extra cost. It seems the current hardware is still too measly to handle DX11 features.
