I personally find backwards compatibily rather important.
MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 (In my opinion) are the three best games ever made (So far).
I will be gutted if I cant play my three favourite games of all time on my PS3.

the controls are said to be excellent. I wouldnt call them "stupid and gimmicky" if they say the controls are brilliant.

The PS3 is not out over here yet, but I will tell you this
Most people over here (London) are getting a PS3 (That I know), a few are getting (Or already have) a 360, and no one is getting a Wii.
I think its a safe assumption that price isnt too big a deterant here then.
Wii, which is £180, is viewed as 'that gimmicky console'.
No one is interested, no matter how cheap it is.

a. Around 40% of the games you list are rubbish
b. Another 40% are for the PS3 too
c. That leave 20% which are above 'ok' or above.
d. What games do we have to look forward to ? MGS4, Mercs 2, RE 4, GT 5, Killzone 2, DMC 4, a new Getaway, 8 Days, SOCOM 4, God of War, Motorstorm, (Ports now) UT3, F.E.A.R., HL2: Orange Box, Oblivion, and MANY, MANY others.
I actually think YOU throw around the words CPU and GPU without knowing exactly what they are.
You seem to lack in the knowledge that a CPU can process graphics perfectly well.
The only reason a GPU exists is to take off the workload of the CPU.
Im not sure how old you are, but you should know that quite a long time ago, the CPU WAS used for graphics processing. Then the GPU was invented.
A GPU is incredibly helpful in graphics processing, but it is not impossible...

I viewed the video, and I can confirm it is one of the worst next gen games I have seen to date.
Still, its just my opinion...maybe you find the graphics attractive.
I must say, this game looks excellent.
It actually seems a lot like a twisted Timesplitters.
