Good price here. Cheapest I've seen yet.
No one's missing the point.
People already know about Nintendo, and the chances of gaining a new customer based on an E3 event - where Nintendo has always struggled - is very slim. In this manner, they control their message, deliver on their own time, and attract a global audience. It's still a major presentation, but under their own terms and without the potential theatrical, bombastic, and useless trappings a major reveal would otherwise necessitate.
If this is true, then I know exactly how many views it will ever get from me - 0.
C'mon Microsoft, at least make the system somewhat friendly.
Edit - I say this as a life-long Microsoft customer. The system is still in the wait-and-see phase, but limiting the amount of people who can view content is a bit narrow-minded. What about a football game? Or an evening playing games with multiple friends the system doesn't recognize? Granted, I know these con...
I don't think that's how it will work - when you purchase it from Gamestop, they'll have worked out a compromise with Microsoft that means part of the purchase price will be split. You'll pay once, and that payment will be divided between creator and distributor.
Check out this article for an idea of how it might work - ...
@pigpen
Haha fair enough. Well, now we know. And all that's wasted is our time. :-)
I think it was actually confirmed (looking for an article now) that no current generation headsets will work with it. Don't quote me on that, but that's what I'm recalling at the moment.
Why stop there?
"Xbox One, fetch!"
Imagine the possibilities.
Always exciting to see established companies return to great IPs. Let's hope it's Fallout 4, and be happy if it's "only" a new Elder Scrolls.
Surely you can't mean everyone, right? I'm sure there are a few invalids who haven't heard the news yet.
You're missing the point of the article completely. They're working on a business model for a seamless transition, as Gamestop controls the majority of used games and their input is valuable as the companies look forward.
Secondly, this information was divulged during a conference call with investors. This is a projection, and not related to Microsoft or Sony.
If you buy both, you get a cable box and a PS4 for under 800 dollars. Not bad.
You know what - this is actually brilliant on Nintendo's part. They don't have to fight for a major conference window, and they'll continue to deliver their news in a manner already established for their consumers.
So long as the news is worthwhile, kudos to you Nintendo. Now please announce a new Metroid/EarthBound/Zelda/Star Fox. Just a thought.
... Skynet. It's happening.
Seriously though, this is common - the Wii U even experienced a noticeable improvement in performance after a recent firmware updated. And the system isn't actually getting more powerful, just increasing the capability of what's already there.
Yeah, but the add-on is named Xbox 1 1/2. And then the slim version of the Xbox One will be the Xbox One 2.0.
Honestly though, this just seems like a living room computer. There's nothing here that makes the console a great gaming system, sadly.
Yep. Well said.
#justthebegining? Of what? Not sure where you're going with this one.
As a side-note, this has been standard practice for years in the gaming industry, for better or worse. Sony didn't do it during the PS4 announcement, and people commented how quite it was at times.
The worst part, however, was the times these hired people chose to clap. No logical person could have gotten that excited over timed FIFA exclusivity or "Xbox, watch TV." At lea...
@optimus
Never said it would be on network television - with all of the streaming sites and torrents that exist, this series can't avoid becoming become available to people who don't own an Xbox One. It's just inevitable, which, while illegal, makes me happy that anyone with even a remote interest in Halo will be able to enjoy it. It's an enjoyable mythos that more people should enjoy.
"Individual games will be tied to Xbox Live accounts, Microsoft said, meaning that the software giant can detect whether a game has been sold to a retailer and repurchased, or handed from one friend to another. In such instances, the second user must pay a fee."
So, this is interesting. The game can be tied to the hard drive, but are all games required installations? If so, Microsoft's basically destroyed their used game market.
If true, then I ...
"Call Of Duty Ghosts 'Didn't Set Out To Be Significantly Different'"
Well, I am shocked - every COD has been so different already.
"You must not blame me if I do talk to the clouds" - Henry David Thoreau
Seems rather fitting right now - I, for one, won't be doing any talking.
