The fact that its selling this greatly on such a dry month and the kicker...... OVER A DEMO!!!! Tells me this is much needed for Sony so you can only imagine what that actual game will do..
Although i somewhat agree to your statement the only game i remember that helped boost sales like this in Japan on a Dry month was MGS4 and that was the actual game

I played both and had nothing but good remarks about them, It was far from perfect but overall a great game, with 3 im sure they will listen to their fans once again and incorporate some new advancements to make it new and innovative at the same time....
but not like this over a demo the real game was suppose to push numbers like that or better, now what comes to mind is what happens when the real game drops for the PS3 in Japan which tells me that when Microsoft gets ahold of this news its almost irrelavant that they will let this slide, Im sure they will be trying their hardest to get it launched in Japan.

too soon to speculate but i cant knock the author to wonder what the characters are really all about. I like the dark feel its a branch the square enix never really touched before and is bringing something new to the franchise. With this dark and mature look it will probably make the gaming experience a lil more realistic sense as the characters you play.

The install base must increase in order for sony to catch up and by eliminating the last generation completely, because come to think of it, Sony is the only one supporting the last generation, I think that will give people a push that they need in order to upgrade to next gen. In order for there to be a devastating difference in this so called console war sony needs to do 3 things that in my mind would absolutely boost their sales.
1. A Price cut will help the everday consumer
2. Backwards compatibility would be a huge winning factor for the PS2 owners looking to go next gen, and with that leads to #3
3. Stop supporting the PS2 console therefore making the last generation userbase make a choice
