People that love to point out the hypocrisy of the Sony - SF5 dynamic as compared to the Microsoft - ROTTR always, and I mean always conveniently omit the part that at E3 2013, before next gen consoles came out, when SE showed the trailer for ROTTR and the black screen at the end appeared to show what consoles it would come out on, the PS4 and the PS3 where listed as consoles that it was coming out on. Fast forward to the PS4 launch and u get the remastered version of tomb raider that out per...
I'm with you 100%. I remember going to websites like ign, gamespy, gamespot, 1up and game pro during my time in computer lab in middle school, anxiously awaiting any news for my then new ps2..I also remember hearing the first rumors about the PS3. Got an Xbox in 2004 around when halo 2 came out, that was also the first time I ever experienced on-line gaming, I remember being so happy that I no longer had to worry about lining up that perfect headshot only for my friend to look at my scree...
also, since about the time mgs2 came out you could tell that Kojima wanted more than just to work on MGS games, hence ZOE and how it included a demo for MGS2. Even as recent as MGS4 you can tell that he wanted to wrap up the series, but it always seemed that Konami wouldn't let him branch off too much.
@dcbronco so where is you expert assessment now? you ten year old, your responses have shown how little you actually know about how the real world functions. believing foolhardily that money equals success without using factual evidence, such as SONY's 20 years worth of risky new ips, to dictate a proper opinion and using only the narrative that more money equals more game genres as your only bullet point all the while ignoring the fact that Microsoft is only known as a fps generator.
Hey dcbronco where are you huh? ? ? ? where is SONY's budget now huh?
You know why they are focusing all their resources on to the online component of gtaV. Its pretty simple, they can squeeze out more dollars for less content through online purchases. Take for example their most recent add-on (the low-rider one) did you see how expensive everything was on it? talk about a money grab, but what's worse is that people actually spend REAL money on those add-on's. We have only ourselves to blame for the current state of gaming. I saw this path when Microsof...
I couldn't get into this mgs at all, I tried to give Keith a shot but it just didn't work on several levels for starters after the prologue there is almost no amount of cut scenes to keep one invested in story progression. It made finishing the game feel more like a chore than the visceral experience that kojima-San typically accomplishes in previous titles. Over all I sold the game mid way throug, some of you might have enjoyed it and no disrespect to you all, but as a lifelong mgs f...
It is funny you mention dlc because if I recall correctly it was Microsoft's decision to charge for add on maps for halo2, I remember bungie being against such practice, but like always, the gaming community had the final say and with their wallets sealed the fate of all future dlc. Thankfully bungie would release the maps for free after a month or two, can't recall. But by then both Microsoft and bungie saw the potential revenue of pay for add-on content.
Timlot I guess you'll never understand the difference in fields of operation. Software is one of the most profitable business you can make it in, as oppose to hardware where you have to be mindfull of your overhead, your facilities, your suppliers, etc.. by your logic wth has Ford, GM, and Chrysler been doing? They've been in business more than a century and yet their stock and net worth is less than Facebook's.
I know right, Forbes does whatever it can to stroke Microsoft's chin any chance it gets. I remember they had an article about the UI upgrade that the One was getting it and used that as an attack on how Sony drags their updates.
If you don't believe the dysfunction at Nintendo that's fine but don't bind yourself kid, I've been waiting since the n64 for a proper and I mean proper 3D pokemon game, be it an open world monster hunter type game or an arena battle fighting type game. Yet we still get re-skinned pokemon red, blue, green, yellow games and it's to fans like you that are contempt with the status quo that Nintendo has you believing to be truth.. They have the ips, they have the talent, but ...
One thing about business that seems to be flying all over you Nintendo fans heads, is that investors drive business, what does that mean? That means if you have a clear and profitable portfolio of both gaming assets and untapped market potential, investors are going to have your back. Sony's gaming division is at the top of the charts, Nintendo's however has seen there ceiling in both the console and Mobil market and they've shown time and time again to not have a clear understand...
Hate to break it to you, but from all the articles I've read, and all the evidence leading up to this point-- the NX will be underpowered I've read numerous articles staying how much of hassle it is for Nintendo to develop games in hd, now you'd want them to all of a sudden become master developers?
Lol your name is gameboy I find that to be so ironic, remember it was Nintendo more specifically it was Reggie that stated that the ds wouldn't cannibalize the Gameboy when it was first released, tell me again when the new Gameboy is coming out? Oh that's right the ds totally did cannibalize the Gameboy
@ ashlen so was Sega and Atari but that didn't stop them from leaving the console business, I started gaming with an nes so you won't be able to pull the young card on me, over the years one thing has become ever so clear to me, Nintendo rather stick with doing things their own way then try to change to market demands, why else do you think online was so horrendous with both the Wii and wiiu, and maybe you're ok with that but I'm noticing that more and more Nintendo fanboys ar...
Umm @ wonderfulmonkeyman go look up the first intial reveal of the ds back in 2003-2004 one of the most VOCAL things Reggie Fils-Aime was going on about back then was how the ds was not and I repeat was not a replacement for the game boy... I remember multiple gaming sites and media asking him about both the gameboy and ds and his response would always be Nintendo can support them both, guess what happened? Guess what happen to the game boy?
@mpnothanks that's the thing the customer is always right, I've worked in the service industry before and can count countless times when I had to force a fake smile and accommodate an absurd request, but I've started my own business since then and if you don't smile and provide what your customer asks they'll find a new provider. Case in point people bought a tablet,ps4,xboxone, over a wiiu
@KakashiHotake not only that but when the Wii first came out it had no competition from the Mobil market, the iPhone was only a couple of years away from release and even when it did release there was no app store, no games for it. The second the app store open, the second quality games started coming out for Mobil platforms that was the second that Nintendo's primary consumer ditched them and instead bought games for their phones, essentially killing their vision and profits. Nintendo is...
I'm sorry but hololens is going nowhere in the gaming side of things, not this generation at least, AR is not the way of the future not when it comes to gaming, to many variables in play when you are dealing with gaming elements and trying to blend them with real world physical elements. The mine craft example looks fun for about a 30 minute session but try to play the game that way longer then that and you'll quickly see how much of a novelty idea it is. Creation is something holoLen...
E3 was a spectacle to behold in its glory days, unfortunately for those that like such events, the internet kinda made these events obsolete. With the advent of a 24/7 news cycle in all avenues of media and entertainment, the place to unleash new info on games and consoles became less restricted to one annual event as evident by Sony's PSX events and the fact that several times in recent memory info leaks makes the reveal less impact-full than anticipated. Which sucks because, I for one, ...
