relax, once the xbox leaves the scene, it will all be about the games again. like before ms started to mess around in the console world.
can we still compare the metacritics scores on those 2 consoles ? a 85 on ps3 might as well compare to 95 on 360.

The more a console sells, the more chances there are that a) new developers will start working on that console b) existing developers develop more games c) developers that are on other consoles put more effort on this one.
So yes it matters.
We will fill this space up with something as irrelevant easily !
When I see who is getting a PS3 nowadays, the big shift (PS2->PS3) is coming up...
In 20 years, the only things we will remember from the xbox are: rrod on the 360, fanboys but also Gears and Halo (if not ported to PS4).

MS Started with a bang (original xbox), dropped the first adapters really hard, had to pull massive strings to save the 360 (rrod, normally the product should have been taken from the market) and now they fail again with pushing the kinect and leaving their fanbase without exclusives (3 or 4 maybe ?)... so why would you try it again ms ?
Do we really want a new xbox ?
It all will depend on the games and the level of piracy.
only if you use kinect and spread your arms...
thing is: if you still need to buy a console, why would you still go for the 360 ?
lots of people still have to upgrade from their ps2.

so you turned your windows and virus updates off and made clear that ms has no right to reboot your pc after a critical update without annoying messages that your pc isn't safe anymore. lot's of tweeks but indeed it's possible.
I guess if you have enough money, you can by a decent pc that you can leave on day and night (at the cost of 2 games for the extra electricity).
ever tried hacking ps eye ?
here in eu you can visit a game store and see how much space the Wii and PS3 take and how little is being filled by xbox.
