If Sony is so strong just on their own merits, then why have they felt the need to get into exclusivity contract with so many large IPs and 3rd party companies?
Why is Jim Ryan making such a fool of himself and Sony just over CoD?

Sony is the one sounding worried about what will come if Microsoft starts making power moves successfully. That doesn't scream them having confidence in what they contribute internally.

The thing about this is, Sony shouldn't have gotten in the middle of the acquisition in the first place. And of course, when you have Jim Ryan basically screaming from the rooftops that simply losing CoD would utterly cripple Sony's gaming division Xbox, in turn, needs to meet their bluff with just as much effort.

Sony quickly gives up on things that don't work. They did it with the Vita. They did it with PS Now. They've done it with entire genre's like FPS and RPGs.
When Killzone and Resistance weren't these juggernauts they wanted them to be, they went away and didn't try again.
Same with RPGs. I can't remember the last one they published, themselves. They've just been making deals with Atlus and Square Enix for exclusivity.

It's called throwing crap at the wall and hoping something sticks.
The entire way through, according to him, you would swear Sony was this tiny little mom and pop shop, and Microsoft was this giant multinational trying to burn their store down for funsies.

Lol
Consoles have been a developmental/technological roadblock for generations now.
The moment they acknowledge that SSDs exist, suddenly it's this amazing new technology we must spread upon the world.

In terms of FFXVI, there's nothing I've seen so far that hasn't already been seen before. It doesn't even seem like much of a step up from FXV.
Then again, as the Sony checks keep coming through, I'm sure they're happy to...

I won't be surprised if Dredge is being talked about when award season comes around.

Got it.

I mean there's always emulation.
You can plug pretty much whatever controller you want in nowadays.

I agree both Eternal Darkness and Viewtiful Joe deserve remasters/remakes (mainly a remake for Eternal Darkness. Viewtiful Joe still holds up, just needs a resolution and FPS boost).

The rest of the list though? Eh.

Hoping they hit this out of the park. They definitely definitely understand psychological horror. Thought they were a good pick. They're playing with fire if this doesn't deliver though.

This is just getting sad at this point lol

Capcom has no reason to sell, and I've been hearing how Sony is going to acquire Square Enix for a decade now.
I still say it makes no sense to do so AFTER they sold off most of their big Western IP.
Even so, what would be the difference? Sony already makes sure their big titles don't come to Xbox as is.

The same way they're doing it now lol. Money. Just like how Microsoft is in turn; money.

Like to see the series back, but I don't like the new art style, honestly.

@ctoaun

CoD - releases a new game almost every year to keep people interested.

CSGO - Released over a decade ago, and still one of the most popular online shooters, all while being only on PC.

Because Capcom actually has the money to fight them without the risk of going bankrupt.

Oh, I know how much of a failure that show was, and how their gaming division has been a s**tshow.
It's just the fact that he, himself, could bankroll all of these projects, himself, and barely notice the difference in his bank account.

Amazon is going with this interesting new philosophy of investing into all of it, but then simply never releasing anything.

What; did Bezos need another house size perpetual clock?
Did the yacht he sits in his yacht feel left out so he got it a yacht for it as well?
