Because it's always asked when it isn't stated in the game. The fact is Kait's sexuality ISN'T relevant. Captain Marvel's isn't relevant. In an action game about shooting up aliens this guy decides it's necessary to ask about her sexual orientation? No thanks. It was possibly the most meaningless thing he could have possibly asked.
They may be expanding the Avalanche operation in Midgar too so that when Sector 7 falls on half of the team it has a greater impact on the player since we would have spent half a game with Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie as opposed to like... 3 hours.
I suspect it'll be more like 13-18 hours counting mini games and side quests.

Not everything has to be high octane furious wombo combo style action to be good and fun. Need I remind you inFAMOUS 2, Fable, DkS, PSO, and many others don't appear to be fun or deep when watching before you've played them on average. Ocarina of Time doesn't have deep combat either but the game is still fun. Tales of Graces f is another fine example of a game that looks slow and clunky but is very fun and satisfying to play.
