Marketing is the most important part actually, Microsoft really failed at the start of the gen. Sony didn’t even have any good exclusives for quite a while, they still killed Microsoft.
The idea of streaming makes no sense and customers hate it, not sure why they keep trying to push it. Hardware is getting cheaper and faster, why go server side?

I still cant understand why they think they need to ruin the gameplay in the most loved game in the series. It just needs better graphics and better movement controls, and maybe a few quality of life improvements. I mean is the game even final fantasy 7 if they make it an action game?

Im not sure I would fine them, but it should be noted you dont need ps+ to play these games online. Most people arent up to speed on things like this.
There is a small amount of people who play games just for story, its pretty rare although you will find a ton of them on forums like this. I mean even look at your first example, Deus Ex was revolutionary game play wise. I could keep going on, but I think you get my point.
