Tanabe didn't actually confirm or deny it was in development at all in that interview, which was around e3 time mind you. All he really said in that regard was that IF they started it now it would likely be a few years out and would likely be an NX title.
Although he spoke of a few interesting tidbits like adding a "time-shifting mechanic" that sounded pretty cool similar to the light/dark world in MP2.

He was only talking about PS3 bc, which is impossible from a technical aspect. Remastering makes more business sense for those titles and with the PS4 being more popular they can reach a wider audience.
PS1 and PS2 games are coming guys. My only question is will they allow discs to run? There are FAR more games in the respective libraries that will never get released in digital form especially the more obscure ones. Sony if you let me play Time splitters 2 with a dualshock 4 and uprezzed to HD I will throw my money at you.

Considering Advanced Warfare was just fine to me on 360 and fully featured, I see this as a blatant attempt to get people on the upgrade bandwagon. But I digress, people can't expect support for 7th gen to last an eternity either. They had their time and the libraries are easily accessible and cheap nowadays.

Metroid Prime Trilogy was a steal at ten bucks though and I'm extremely happy I picked that up.
I don't see anything from the gamecube showing up any time soon apart from a couple remasters sadly, they're probably saving those for next gen. To software emulate the GC the system would have to be many many magnitudes greater in power and the Wii U just isn't strong enough.

For the one millionth time just give us a proper account system. One that doesn't require you to go through technical support to recover lost games. I want to be able to have my content on more than one system and not have to do a dumb transfer. Virtual Console should be universal across every device. This membersip service is their last chance to win me over, I prefer going digital when I can and I would like to see alot more competence on their part with this.

I couldn't stop watching the treehouse streams. I only stopped to take a break when Mario Party came up. It's truly the way they should all do their shows, stop giving us CGI trailers and show us some actual gameplay for a change.
