Overpaying at a retail establishment isn't helping anyone who actually needs it.

Those nice discounts at Amazon come out of Amazon's end, & they aren't hurting the developers. Amazon is one of the few companies thriving in this economy, because they move more units by dealing in large quantities of discounted items.

As for how I treat others, I do things that actually make a difference in people's lives, instead of trying to pat myself o...

I don't care.

I've never payed full price for Gold service, & I never will. I don't pay $60 for games, either. I've been chaining together Amazon credits for a long time, now.

Who are these morons who pay full retail price for stuff, when the internet makes bargain shopping so easy?

If you pay full price, you deserve to pay full price.

Besides, all of these are luxury items. I justify my purchases by bei...

While I agree solely with the point that many PC-centric gamers are elitists, it's no different than the general attitude I've seen from fanboys of a particular console.

Regarding complicated controls, I realize you're exaggerating for comedic effect, but walking forward in a video game for PC typically entails simply pressing the "W" key. They also make a multitude of gamepads for the PC, which I'm sure you are already aware.

PCs h...

I don't know about GOTY, but certainly a good game. While the gameplay itself wasn't anything too incredible, it had great atmosphere, a better than average story, & nice visuals, sub-HD or not.

I'd like to have seen it reach it's full potential on the PC, but there are much worse games which have sold much better, & haven't caught nearly as much flack.

Comparing Alan Wake to God of War is like comparing the movie Memento to the mo...

The reason this adaptation was worth doing at all was because of the appeal of the CHARACTERS.

I like Jamie Foxx. He's very talented. The movie may end up being very entertaining in it's own right. BUT, it will fail as an adaptation of the game's story. At best, it is INSPIRED by the game. The game itself was merely a Michael Mann style story starring two well developed characters, the better developed & more interesting of which was the character of Lynch. ...

Ahhhh, the days before pixel count comparisons, & complaints about sub HD resolutions. I owned a Super Nintendo, & I loved that $H1T.

Shadowrun for SNES was my favorite game, back then.

I did temporarily swap systems with a friend occasionally, so I could play stuff like Gunstar Heroes, Shining Force, etc.

Ridiculous.

People should spend more time GAMING instead of constantly arguing over which console is superior. Both have their strengths & weaknesses.

Buy the one that is suited for you.

If you can afford it, buy both.

What matters is your enjoyment level, not some troll's opinion.

While there are some people over the age of 50 who do understand that video games are just as valid a form of storytelling as film, most are simply dismissive.

If they don't understand something, they insult it, & dismiss it as a waste of time.

All entertainment, while it can alter viewpoints & make life more enjoyable, is equally disposable when compared to shelter, food, water, & air.

So to try & hold movies over video g...

It's overall a good demo, in my opinion. My experience is solely with single player, on PC. I have everything cranked up, & it's pretty good looking. I like the goofy effects. I feel like I'm on COPS. The core gameplay is extremely simplistic, but not bad. Lynch mumbling to himself insanely during shootouts is kinda funny. To me, Lynch was more interesting than Kane in the original, too. Looking forward to playing through it once or twice.

Ran it on both of my rigs with good results.

The one I describes, I ran maxed @60Hz with 4xAA & 8xAF, v sync, triple buffering, etc. Didn't get a fps count, but it ran smoothly.

Also ran on my main rig(i7 920@ 3.5Ghz, GTX 480 x2 SLI, 6GB DDR3 1600MHz) maxed @ 120Hz with 16XQAA & 16xAF, etc. Game looked great, ran great.

Looking fwd to this, as I liked the first one a lot, because of the story & atmosphere. Big Michael Mann m...

I've had this preordered on Amazon for months. I saw the PC version listed at $39.99 & jumped on it. On top of that, I get the $10 credit towards another game. That's awesome.
After I try it out on my rigs, I'll let you know how it runs.
Currently it's DLing to my backup rig, which is a Phenom II 940@ 3.5Mhz, 4GB DDR2 800mhz, & a Gigabyte OC GTX 460 1GB. That is similarly powered to your rig in terms of gaming.

If you have a Steam account, it's available there. Haven't checked anywhere else.

It's on Steam right now.

This is how GPU manufacturers stay in business. There are early adopters & late adopters.

Only hardcore enthusiasts replace their graphics cards more than once every 18 months or so.

Early adopters & frequent refreshes/lines of GPU chips push graphical technology ahead.

If it weren't like this, even the watered down, outdated GPUs in consoles would only be derived from even lower performing, more expensive chipsets.

I guess if you're a dedicated gamer who travels so much that they rarely game at home, this makes sense. Personally, I can't relax enough to really get into a video game when I'm traveling. Also, for that kind of money you can build a far superior desktop. Admittedly, enough power to play Metro 2033 on a laptop is very cool.

Free release date delivery from Amazon for me. I love Newegg, & build my PCs ordering almost exclusively from them, but the Amazon credits are killer. I typically pay $35-40 bucks for new PC game that retails for $50, & $45-50 for console games that retail for $60. I just string the games that have credits together.
