BiggCMan isn't being stupid. The PS3 has targeted software and hardware - targeted to do just one thing, play games. PCs are general computers, bogged down with bloated badly written GUI software (Windows) and poorly optimised games. For example, I have a little Western Digital media-box which can play 1080P videos at Blu-ray bit-rates without a hiccup; it has a single CPU and sweet FA RAM, yet it can run rings round my PC (which struggles with 1080P at anything like a half decent bit-...
the PS2 with a suitably fitted internal hard drive (via the add on Ethernet port)..
Thank you, we will.
"You didn't happen to have a PS2, did you? Because disc swapping was going on there for more than half of the last decade."
You hit the nail on the head there: last decade, as in old technology..
There seems to be some confusion here over aspect ratio and resolution. Aspect ratio, as the name implies, is the ratio of image width to height and is independent of resolution (because you can have non-square pixels).
Any resolution proceeded by 'p' is progressive and by 'i' interlaced; progressive means the whole frame is refreshed in one go, while interlaced means that the frame is split into two interlacing fields which alternately refresh to make up one frame.

"People should be happy with the way they are."
Yes as a morbidly obese 14 year old he should just get on with his life, doing all the things a "normal" 14 year old does.. Learning to chat up the girls and forming relationships, getting involved in sport, socializing, yeah..
But if you want to lose just fat (and also make sure you don't end up with saggy skin) that takes time (and patience).
I just stopped reading right there.
Define Microsoft: Reactive
Sony have consistently pushed boundaries and taken risks - that's called being proactive.
"The pictures below are perfect for demostrating what Turn10 has done because it provides a common point of reference ... the ferris wheel.
You can see that nearby objects (like the ferris wheel) are the same size in both games but in Forza 3, everything farther away is much smaller and appear to be much more distant than they really are.

"The only innovative things the X-box brand brought to the table were the built in Hard Drive"
You could actually fit a hard drive to the original (non-slim)PS2 - the connection came via the network adapter at the back of the consol. So although the X-box came fitted with a hard drive, the PS2 was hard drive enabled.
MS has lost -$6,915,000,000.00. For that same period Sony has lost $951,241,824.00. So, for the total Xbox project Microsoft has lost nearly 7 billion dollars - or am I missing something?
..which I highly doubt - these are the numbers presented.
I'm not fabricating anything - unlike you.
since 2002 for:
MS -$6,915,000,000.00
Sony -$951,241,824.00
MS has lost nearly 7 billion Sony nearly 1 Billion, You were saying?
:-)
and very eloquent - what a refreshing change.
So, you like cheap American garbage, good for you.
"Depends what your definition of superior is. As an OS, Linux is far from superior. It's merely a MUCH more basic construct of an Operating System than Windows is. There are a lot less things that can conflict with third party software, or for virus's to attach themselves to. But with that comes much less functionality and ease of use."
Interesting. Linux and the Mac OS is essentially cut from UNIX. Vista, XP and NT are based on VMS. Linux is every bit as powerful ...
You could fit a HD internally via the network adaptor..
Actually real life looks just as good. What you're seeing in the GT5 game shots is the equivalent of the perfect photograph, ie professional lens, spot on lighting etc. It means that what we may (yes may because those images on the right could all be ray trace stills and not true PS3 rendered in-game shots) see in GT5 are the absolute perfect visual renditions, as a keen amateur photographer I'll buy the game just for that.
