I would really hope that Sony never leaves the console manufacturing industry. They have proven many times that they can make quality experiences. I very much enjoy my PS3, and am sure I will end up buying a PS4.
Having said that, when I really think about it, it always comes down to the games. This really goes for Nintendo as well - as long as I can play Nintendo and Sony GAMES, I will be happy. Does it matter to me who makes the hardware they run on...not really.
I am sorry, but I don't see where he says iphone games are for the eductaed and other systems are not. He said some of the people HE KNOWS that play iphone games are eductaed, but no where did he say that ONLY educated people play iphone games.
And again, did you see the comment he was replying to? The guy says only pathetic losers play iphone games. THAT your ok with?!?!?
By the way, I don't own an iphone, and attacking Cornholio was completel...
In all fairness, dark-hollow probably should have acted a bit more mature. However, did either of you two bother to read the original post by sniper? He takes some obviously untrue potshots at Nintendo, and all you do is bag the guy that calls him on it?
I am not condoning the way dark-hollow acted, but seriously...really...
I like the Vita, and think it is a great piece of tech, but do you really have to insult the competition to make it look better?
Yeah, other than the fact, you know, they already did try...
...Pippen...
I am a platformer fanatic, and I agree that the genre in general is past its heyday.
True platformer fans should own a wii. There are so many great platformers that were released on the little white system this gen.
I use to love jrpgs during the NES and SNES era, but found my enjoyment from them slip during the PS1 era and beyond.
I think what did it for me was the overuse of cut-scenes. I don't really mind small cut-scenes, or ones that don't feel like they are interupting the flow of a game. But so many jrpgs since FFVII started relying on cut-scenes to tell the story, rather than having the story naturally evolve through the gameplay. Again, not saying all Japanese games...
I wouldn't mind seeing a final fantasy game with 2D sprites, like the ones back on the nes/snes. They can make the sprites hd ala Murasama: Demon Blade. That way, they can focus more on the story/scale/gameplay rather than the graphics.
Regarding Dragon Age 2 and Origins, I kinda wish Bioware would focus less on the graphics and more on the story and scope.
Although the Dragon Age games are prettier, the old top-down, isometric role playing games they used to make were so much grander in scale. The stories were more like a sweeping epic rather than an action flick.
Maybe I am alone on this, but I would love to see games more like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and PS: Torment.
Gribble, I was referring more to how the game plays, not how it looks. As much as I loved the Uncharted games, Naughty Dog didn't really take too many chances on the game play front.
Not saying the game play wasn't good - far from it. It just wasn't anything I hadn't already seen before.
The trailer looked good, but it would have better to see gameplay.
Guess I will have to reserve judgement.
Totally agree. It seems that the days of isometric, top down RPGs are all but over.
Its really unfortunate. The developers paid less attention to graphics and more attention to story. I find it odd that games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, which came out many years ago, seem so much bigger than most RPGs today.
It is interesting that the author lists all of those different projects as if they are separate games. Whose to say that the new Sony Last of Us game isn't also the new Epic Studio game.
I get a weird feeling that it is a move game...not sure why
Sounds like the author wants experiences that are similar to the XBOX 360 or PS3.
My advice, buy one of those consoles and leave the Nintendo ones alone. I don't want Nintendo to change, not in the way the author describes. I want Nintendo to evolve the way they always have - by being light-hearted and fun-focused, but changing the experiences, either through gameplay or interaction.
I love people that say they have grown up and no longer enjoy what...
In all fairness Cornholio, that isn't a Nintendo Fanboy thing, that is a fanboy thing, irrespective of consoles.
That's an interesting point. Although I am sure there are some companies that would be just as open as Sony was for Ueda.
Nintendo springs to mind.
As much as the inevitable comparisons will happen at half-baked blogs over the internet, these are two completely different types of games. Let them stay that way.
Wintersun, I think you are missing gamingdroids point. In fact, you are only proving his point - not everyone is enamored with exclusives. This goes for every console. So, to use that as a point of why console A is better than console B isn't a convincing argument.
And to all those that have backed a specific console for whatever reason, this applies to everyone. You can't say Nintendo is the best because of Mario + Zelda as there are many people that just don...
Wow, some of these games take me back. Awesome experiences. Makes me sad that truly wonderful point an click adventures like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island are all but extinct.
The biggest problem I have had with sliders is their size. Probably the only major gripe with my PSP was the fact that the slider was barely a nub. I don't have small hands, and so it seemed that with the smallish slider my thumb would sometimes slip off. If the PSP had a larger slider to accomodate my larger thumb, it would've suited me perfectly.
You don't really get that problem with analog sticks, as I feel I can torque my finger a bit better. To move th...
