Goddamnit the ending practically screamed 'sequel incoming' and two years on I still hold out hope that Platinum will give me my fix because I've played through it so many times now that it just isn't enough.

I know but it's more than Dead Space 1 or 2 ever got. I'd have thought with DS3 seemingly regarded as the Resident Evil 5 of the franchise that Yahtzee would hate this one too.
Then again I guess that's kinda why I like Yahtzee's reviews. Every time I think I know what he might say about a game he goes and says something entirely different.

I know it's an opinion article but seriously, the Half Life games have been the only shooter, hell, practically the only franchise I've ever played in which every moment stood out for me because it was that damned memorable because it was that damned good. I don't know what black magic Valve invoked when they crafted this God among FPS' but goddamnit we could use some more of it in the industry today.
I played the MP beta and - at least in my opinion - it's a better experience than it was in C2.
Going to be honest, price tag or no, I'm looking forward to playing this on my PS3.
It was far from standout but it was a decent little title. Shame we couldn't see similar character crafting in DmC because Trip and Monkey had some of the best chemistry I've ever seen in video game characters.

RE5 didn't get bad reviews at all, the lowest rating it got (that I'm aware of) was from X-Play who gave it a 3/5. Most of them were 7s and 8s with a 9 or two here and there. It was only really once the fanbase had collectively played through it and discussed their experiences that it became gradually more apparent that it wasn't nearly as good as RE4 had been.

In terms of functionality, RE6 actually boasted some fairly solid TPS mechanics which, in the context of the series, actually made a fair amount of sense considering characters Chris and Leon's experience in dealing with crazy shit like bio-engineered monstrosities.

I dunno, I played a couple of games of the first Gears with a few girls who seemed pretty into it.
As much as I really would like to see another inFamous game I really don't see where they can go with the franchise after the two radically different endings (depending on your karmic alignment). If they went ahead with another inFamous title I'd rather see it focus on another character with a unique set of powers.
I don't quite agree but good dialogue is never a bad thing and it's a cracking shame that most writers for video games aren't particularly good at their craft.
Still on the fence where this is concerned. On the one hand some of the footage they've shown actually looks pretty promising. On the other hand, the memories of Crysis 2 are still pretty fresh...

Oh, a sequel that nobody asked for.
Homefront wasn't terrible but it took far too many liberties from the recent entries in the CoD franchise. Can't really imagine a shinier engine from Crytek would make it any better unless they completely redesigned the sequel in terms of gameplay.
This is going to be one hell of a swansong for the PS3
