RESIDENT EVIL 5 was a mess.
I bought it because of RE4.
And i didn’t even play RE6 due to the poorly reviews
I love MGS 3 and 4( MGS 1 is good because it was good for its time).
MGS 4 to me was almost perfect. The story line and especially the gameplay was like nothing else — at least to me at that time-, and i beat it at least 10 times.

i have heard this as far back as the Ps3 and gamecube days.
The real question ought to be; would we ever have or experience the “awe” factor we had when we went from the Super Nintendo to the Ps2 days graphics power, or the 2D to the 3D graphics.
Now days the only thing i’m interested is in the story line, how the characters interact within the game.
