Oh I'm not too fond of the plot actually, it's just that DMC never felt finished, there isn't any conclusion (it's supposed to be DMC 2's ending, but...What the hell?). It also didn't feel like it needed a reboot because of a story that didn't make any sense or because of a non-evolving gameplay (you know, like Dynasty Warriors).
If DmC doesn't show anything related to the "old" established storyline, I won't mind at all. I'll...

Just to clear things up, Rebellion wasn't in Devil May Cry 1 (hence Tony-Red-Grave's comment - lol @ his name by the way). Dante had Force Edge which transformed into Sparda.

@Stuart, this new game doesn't have to flop. You have to remember that Alan Wake was released along with Red Dead Redemption, Blur, ModNation Racers and Split/Second. You can even add Prince of Persia : The Forgotten Sands to that list.

I think $40 is too expensive for 3/5 years old games, but these games sure are worth checking.
It's amazing to see the huge gap between Resistance and Resistance 3, graphical-wise (even though both are on the same console, the difference is considerable) and gameplay-wise.
Insomniac Games has really succeeded in mastering the FPS genre with this series. Can't wait to see their new IP.

Looks like I wasn't clear enough in my comment, sorry for that.
I don't want NT to conclude this story, I would have wanted Capcom's team to finish it first before rebooting it. We don't even know if DmC will be linked to the series' plot, but if the game ends up being a success, they'll make a sequel for sure. Now whether this will continue the previous story or create a new timeline, I don't know and I don't care right now.
But anyway...
