I really do enjoy gaming on XBL due to its flexibility in the social area (chat, cross game everything, streaming network music, parties)
but at the end of the day, I have just as much fun rocking KZ2 or UC2 without chat (I don't have a BT headset and the eyetoy mic means I have to turn down the tv and has no push-to-talk feature or mute button)
as I do hitting up BC2 with everyone in the party chatting and jumping from game to game without interruption. ...
I commend you on your logic. You are correct. MS cheaped out on their hardware.

Had a MASSIVE predecessor which became one of the most popular consoles of all time. That the 360 is even competing at all is actually pretty good for MS, even with the head start.
If Sony had their affairs in order when the ps3 launched, it would have crushed the 360 into oblivion.

I just wish sony kept the BC ps3s rolling out or offered an emulation option that people could purchase.
"casuals" tend to flock to quickie short games. The trouble is that this tends to encourage Devs to CRANK games out with little QA, flooding the market with low quality product. This can quickly lead to market stagnation and eventually a crash a la the big Atari crash that almost killed the industry altogether.
Casual games have their place, but greed tends to overshadow everything and companies will mass produce to cash in.
