Just for info. If you actually listen to the presentation he doesn't say there will be 100 ps4 games compatible at launch. What he said was, some game code simply cannot handle running on faster hardware without patching, but they had tested the top 100 ps4 games and "most" would be playable at launch i.e. some would still require patching to work properly. Based on what he actually said I'm thinking that "most" ps4 games should work on PS5 without patching.

I've never understood why some people like the stick placement on the XB controllers. I personally hate it. My hands are relatively symmetrical, so the thumb sticks on the PS controllers are perfect. I hate the asymmetry of the XB controllers meaning my thumbs are in different positions.
If you think the left stick on the XB controller is in a more natural position, then is the right stick in the wrong position? as it's similarly situated as the PS controller.

Based on that logic the gaming industry is doomed as the majority of people I know haven't bought a PS4 or XBOX one. There's no games coming !!! Yeah, coz when a new platform releases there's always a steady stream of games being released every month from the get go. Oh, wait a minute that's not right is it.
You don't need to like VR, but everyone that I know who's tried it thinks it's great and really immersive.

Digital Foundry figure the Scorpio will be able to make 4K@30 at best. So if you want 60FPS, then you'll not be gaming in 4K

TBH if it means that the games can run 1080p@60, then it's not pointless. I don't have a 4K TV and have no plans to buy one unless one of my current TV's packs in. Personally I'll be waiting to see what kind of benefit it provides to the PSVR experience, then I might be tempted to upgrade.

@UnholyLight

The problem with your statement is that the PS3 had the better hardware, but was so different that people didn't know how to use it in the beginning. XB1 has inferior hardware and you can't fix that with software.

And before you say what about cloud and crackdown. That's not xb1 either. Sony could also license the third party software used to do that (If they spent the money to put the servers in place to utilise). But in any case, t...

You know that the ps4 media player came out in July right ?

Plays loads of formats including mkv's, streams from a DLNA server etc.

It's not really remote play. It's local vlan play. PlayStation now is truely remote play on non console devices. Not just streaming from a local console.

They seem to like Apple products just fine.

And all the PS4 exclusives are 100% more fun to play on PS4 vs Xbone. What's your point.

@marcofdeath.

Your list of proof that XB1 is better than ps4 is a bit disappointing. You make a list of features of FH2 vs DC and then claim that because FH2 is open world than XB1 is more powerful. The fact that in each of the catagories where they have the same feature, DC wipes the floor with FH2.

And has no one told you that you can't simply add memory speeds together. It doesn't work that way. The slowest speed is always the bottleneck. If you ha...

I'm not sure why there should be a limit at all. This isn't sharing out your game library. The game is running on your PS4 while your mate controls it via his PS4. This is no different from me lending someone my game or them coming to my house and playing it i.e. I can't play it at the same time they are playing. Or they are joining you to play a local multi player game e.g. FIFA. Local multi player only requires a single copy of the game anyway so again no different from your mat...

They seem to be listing the "Exclusives" again in the "Other Exclusives" section.

Are they trying to pad it out ?

OK. I realise that I'm being pedantic, but "YOU CANNOT GO STRAIGHT TO THE HARDWARE" is simply not true. Since an API is just a bit of software to make it easier to perform specific functions, there is no reason why (if you know the hardware well enough) you cannot ignore the api and code directly to the hardware.

Now I agree that at the low level you'll probably not save much, but it is still possible.

It's peoples right to have an opinion, but really it should be based on facts rather than blind faith.

DirectX is an abstraction layer. It was designed to allow developers to code to a single set of commands/api's and manage the multiple different hardware configurations on PCs. It is a fact that every additional software layer between the program and the hardware adds CPU cycles to perform a function.

A analogy would be opening a door. In directX you...

There are at least 6 games on ps4 with the same or better metacritic score than Titanfall.

Glad you like Titanfall. Personally I got tired of it after a couple of weeks. Never was a big fan of the twitch shooter.

Not sure how you can call a game which sold a million copies in 9 days a flop.

http://www.polygon.com/2014...

Also where did you get the X1's Titanfall sales figures since neither MS or EA have released any. Only article I can find says TF is only just approaching 1M on XB1

@Kavorklestein
DirectX is nothing more than a set of libraries. It was created in an attempt to manage the multiple different graphics cards so that a developer could code once to a single standard and not worry about the hardware. It doesn't make graphics better. It makes it simpler/quicker to code (same as openGL), but is not as efficient as coding directly to the hardware. It hasn't advanced graphics, but has allowed smaller developers to create games faster.
